About Me

~WELCOME To~
~Kevin's Site~
This Memorial MySpace Website was created by my Mom Heike in the Memory of Me,
My name is
Kevin Michael William Butterfield

I was born in Germany on February 07, 1991.
I was Killed by a Drunk Driver on July 13,
1996 in Germany at the age of 5.
The Guy that Killed me got away with very little,
The Courts gave him
11 Months of Probation and the took his
Driverslicense away for 13 months.
Not Enough if you asked me
He was never charged for any
manslaughter or anything

remotely resembling what happened.
In my own opinion, he got away with murder.
Kevin I will Miss you forever.
He Lights the way
I have been asked to perform an honorable but ardutus task.I believe that I was asked to stand before you today for two reasons. The first being that I knew Kevin and the special way he touched all with whom he came in contact. The second reason is because I have never had a problem with putting a message or meaning into words, until now.Suddenly, I realize how hard it is to make sense out of all that happened.I have found it to be one of the most difficult things to deal with. How can I send a message of love and expressions and tell you about this special person when all I feel is anger and confusion.Anger because of the senselessness of this tragedy.Confusion because the next step is unclear and I cannot foresee any resolution now, or in the time to come.It almost seems pointless to go on, but we must.If not for the the sake of Kevin's memory, then at least to try and prevent the same fate from occurring to other special children.I am saddened to think that Kevin was never given an opportunity to make the most of his life.To someday grow up and fulfill all of his dreams and desires.I would like to think that he would have become a person who dedicated his life to the service of others. Those who knew him well know the frailty and strength he possessed. When you were around him, all the while you had the impression of a shy little boy: but if you put him to the test, he would prove to be just the opposite-full of strength and passion. He exemplified all of the special qualities that set some children apart. For myself and others, he also made it hard not to choose favorites. With a disarming smile and a convincing way of saying with his eyes," Whatever you think I did, I didn't do it!",he touched the hearts of everyone, and for that, he will not be forgotten,This past week I called home and told my mother about what had happened. She responded to what I said with a simple statement:" God must have been running short of angels and needed another one."It's funny that she never had the opportunity to meet Kevin, but somehow summed up in that one statement a message of understanding and belief. In the Bible, Luke 15:10 says: There is joy in the presence of angels. With Kevin, there was joy.For those who have little faith in the believe of God and the special treasures he give us every day.I think Kevin is a shining example of why this faith should be strong, and we should all believe.A miracle has occurred here on earth and few of us realized it ever happened. Many of us were too busy with the hustle and bustle of life to stop and look, or even think about it.Kevin was that miracle. An angel on earth and now in heaven.I couldn't think of a better person for the job and would want no other to watch over me and my family for the rest of our days.I want to believe that every time a child steps out on the street, Kevin will be there to guide them safely across, or every time a person wants to drink and drive, Kevin will be the friend who says no and keeps that person from getting behind the wheel.Psalms 91:11 states: For he will give his angels charge of you to guard you in all your ways.Let us honor Kevin by always keeping this in mind and never forget that he will be watching over us.For two nights after the accident, a single star was the only light in the night sky.We all believe this to be evident of what I speak. It was Kevin's way of reminding us that he is still here and if we need him, we only have to gaze into the night and we will see his beauty shining forever. If anything is to be learned from what has occurred, let it be to appreciate what we have now before it was taking away from us forever. We ask God to provide us with comfort and a sense of relief in knowing that he was spared any pain or discomfort and that his exit from this world is only the beginning of a more important journey.Saint John of the Cross said it best in the Spiritual Canticle:"Oh then soul most beautiful among all the creatures, so anxious to know the dwelling place of your beloved that you may go in quest of him. Now, we are telling you that you yourself are his dwelling...his secret chamber and hiding place."With these words, let us always remember that we have to look no further than our hearts and no higher than the stars to see Kevin and all of his beauty.
A very special person that i will always hold close to heart wrote this beautiful Eulogy for Kevin's Funeral.

My Interests

If Roses grow in Heaven,
Lord please pick a bunch for me
Place them in my sons arms
And tell him they're from his mum
Tell him I love him and miss him
And when he turns to smile
Place a kiss upon his cheek
And hold him for awhile
Because remembering him is easy,
I do it every day
But there's an ache within my heart
Because I am missing him today...

IF YOU WOULD LIKE SOMETHING OF KEVIN'S SITE, GRAPHICS, PICTURES ECT.,PLEASE ASK ME FIRST... DON'T JUST TAKE IT!!! THANK YOU!!!

TO THOSE I LOVE
AND THOSE WHO LOVE ME

When I am gone, release me, let me go, I have so many things to see and do,Please don't tie yourself to me with tears, Be thankful for our beautiful years.I gave you my love. You can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness...I thank you for the love you each have shown, But now it's time I traveled on alone. So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, Then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a time that we must part, So bless the memories within your heart.I won't be far away, for life goes on. So, If you need me, call and I will come.Though you can't see or touch me, I'll be near. And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear All my love around you soft and clear,Then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile, and say "Welcome Home!

I'd like to meet:

Letter to a Drunk Driver
You know my name by now
though you did before that night
on your choice to drink and drive
cost me my life
Can you see my family
how their hearts full of pain
or hear my mother cry at night
She will never be the same
Have you seen the flowers
friends have placed upon my grave
Or heard the sadness in
my family and friends voices
when they mention my name
How easily life was lost
because you failed to count the cost
I'm at peace,
For you I now pray,
you must bare this burden
Each and everyday.

Do you think that this is just your business?
Really, do you think you're on your own?
Understand, when you're a little reckless,
No risk you take can be your risk alone.
Know that when you drive a little tipsy,
Daring death to make it home by three,
Rock-solid on the wheel, a little dizzy,
In control, but super-carefully,
Vested in your care are all the loved ones
Inside the circle of your homeward run,
Nor would you find peace ever if you harmed one,
Going mad to undo what you've done.

Campaign against drunk driving!!! These two ads are part of a campaign against drunk driving. Drunk driving is an issue that has been around for many years, but still needs to be continually addressed. The motive of these two ads is to grab people's attention with true, startling facts. They discuss some of the possible outcomes that can occur when a person is found drinking under the influence of alcohol. The copy and design of the advertisements should be enough to deter people from not drinking and driving.
Against Drunk Driving
There are those who say drinking and driving is a form of suicide.
That's doubly tragic.
Because people who drive under the influence of alcohol put more than themselves at risk.
If you have been drinking, ask for a ride home.
Call a cab.
Sleep where you are.
Just don't take the wheel.
The last thing we want to see is death that could have been prevented.
Help us make sure we don't.

Heroes:

Drunk Driving StatisticsOut of 420 pedestrian fatalities, 38 per cent of those tested for alcohol had been drinking, and most of these had BACs over 0.08.Almost nine out of every 10 people killed in alcohol-related collisions (87.4 per cent) were in or on the drinking driver's vehicle (i.e. drivers/operators or passengers).Almost nine out of every 10 drivers killed in alcohol-related collisions (87.5 per cent) were male.Of all injured snowmobile operators who were killed, 62 per cent had been drinking, as had 49 per cent of the deceased operators of other off-road vehicles.Over half (56 per cent) of the drivers killed in single-vehicle crashes tested positive for alcohol, compared to only 20 per cent of those killed in multiple-vehicle crashes.Drinking and driving is a subset of alcohol-related crashes. In 2000, road crashes involving a driver who had been drinking killed 864 people, representing almost 30 per cent of all road fatalities. This is down by one-third from 1995, when 1,296 motor vehicle deaths involved a drinking driver. Of the drinking-driving road fatalities, almost half (422) were drivers whose blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was over 0.08.In contrast, the United States has seen no substantial change in drink-driving fatalities over the past few years. In 1995, traffic fatalities involving a drinking driver represented 42 per cent of road fatalities (17,732 deaths); in 2000, they represented 41 per cent (17,380 deaths).
