About Me

We the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have done so much, with so little, for so long, we are now qualified to do anything, with nothing." ~ Mother Teresa ~

Prayer of St. Francis (a.k.a.) 11th Step PrayerLord, make me an instrument of Thy Peace. Where there is hatred, let me sow love; Where there is injury, pardon; Where there is doubt, faith; Where there is despair, hope; Where there is darkness, light; Where there is sadness, joy. O'Divine Master, Grant that I may seek not so much To be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love; for it is giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life. Amen

My Interests

Medicine ~ the only profession that labors incessantly to destroy the reason for its own existence....................................Religion/Spirit uality, Reading, the great Outdoors, and my Animals........................................Nursing is an art: and if it is to be made an art, it requires an exclusive devotion as hard a preparation, as any painter's or sculptor's work; for what is the having to do with dead canvas or dead marble, compared with having to do with the living body, the temple of God's spirit? It is one of the Fine Arts. ~Florence Nightingale, Pioneer of Modern Nursing....................................................T he nurse is the consciousness of the unconscious, the love of life for the suicidal, the leg of the amputee, the eyes of the newly blind, a means of locomotion for the infant, knowledge and confidence for the young mother, a 'mouthpiece' for those too weak or withdrawn to speak. ~Virginia Henderson, The First Lady of Nursing..................................................... .....................

Country, Rock, Classical, Oldies, Christian, Easy Listening, and yes I guess I'm a sucker for all those gushy romantic songs too:P...mainly though I listen to whatever happens to suit my mood at the moment... This Life goes by sooooo fast, and given that I am in healthcare and have gone through the whole Hurricane Katrina disaster, I have become Acutely Aware of what really matters in this Life, and I treasure each day God has given me on this earth. I also treasure all the people throughout my entire life that I have come in contact with, my family, friends, a stranger on the street who may have smiled at me when I was having a bad day......It is Love, Life, and People who matter, not money or things....and so I LOVE this Song by Kenny Chesney...."Don't Blink" It is so true......I worked this concert here in MS....and THIS song was one of the best ones....too bad I can't filter out all the screaming fans...hahaTracy Lawrence Find Out Who Your Friends Are

The Bible is numero uno, All Creatures Great and Small, Night by Elie Wiesel, The Awakening by Kate Chopin, and I love old poetry, The Big Book................................................"There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance - that principle is contempt prior to investigation."-Hebert Spencer..............................................

Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. Sometimes we must interfere. When human lives are endangered, when human dignity is in jeopardy, national borders and sensitivities become irrelevant. Wherever men and women are persecuted because of their race, religion, or political views, that place must - at that moment - become the center of the universe."-Elie Wiesel

The proud and resilient community here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, The volunteers that are here helping us, y'all ROCK!!!, Florence Nightingale, people who stand up for what is right and true in the face of opposition............ Bill W. and Dr. Bob, the Founders of AA..... For most normal folks, drinking means conviviality, companionship and colorful imagination. It means release from care, boredom and worry. It is joyous intimacy with friends and a feeling that life is good. But not so with us in those last days of heavy drinking. The old pleasures were gone. They were but memories. Never could we recapture the great moments of the past. There was an insistent yearning to enjoy life as we once did and a heartbreaking obsession that some new miracle of control would enable us to do it. There was always one more attempt - and one more failure. The less people tolerated us, the more we withdrew from society, from life itself. As we became subjects of King Alcohol, shivering denizens of his mad realm, the chilling vapor that is loneliness settled down. It thickened, ever becoming blacker. Some of us sought out sordid places, hoping to find understanding companionship and approval. Momentarily we did - then would come oblivion and the awful awakening to face the hideous Four Horsemen - Terror, Bewilderment, Frustration, Despair. Unhappy drinkers who read this page will understand!.................Three pertinent ideas:(a) That we were alcoholic and could not manage our own lives. (b) That probably no human power could have relieved our alcoholism. (c) That God could and would if He were sought.................................................The Promises:If we are painstaking about this phase of our development, we will be amazed before we are half way through. We are going to know a new freedom and a new happiness. We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it. We will comprehend the word serenity and we will know peace. No matter how far down the scale we have gone, we will see how our experience can benefit others. That feeling of uselessness and self-pity will disappear. We will lose interest in selfish things and gain interest in our fellows. Self-seeking will slip away. Our whole attitude and outlook upon life will change. Fear of people and of economic insecurity will leave us. We will intuitively know how to handle situations which used to baffle us. We will suddenly realize that God is doing for us what we could not do for ourselves. Are these extravagant promises? We think not. They are being fulfilled among us - sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly. They will always materialize if we work for them. ***My sobriety date: 2/25/99 and My ALANON Birthday 2/2002:)***One Day At A Time***By the Grace of God*** This is a video made by volunteers in my hometown, Pass Christian......I just want to say once again to all the volunteers, GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!! To my fellow survivors, what does not kill us makes us stronger....and we are/will be stronger than ever because of this.
