This page is dedicated to Hugh Joseph Patton. He was a son and a brother, a grandson and an uncle and he was a good friend. He loved hanging out with his friends and he loved music. He enjoyed playing guitar and writing songs.
After a night of playing pool with friends, he decided to walk the 2 miles home. He never made it. A drunk driver veered off the road and struck and killed him. The drivers blood alcohol level was 0.12. He was sentenced to 3 years for manslaughter but was out in 1-1/2 years for good behavior. Not much for taking a life! What makes this even more tragic is the drunk driver was in a minor fender bender 20 minutes before he hit Hugh, even told the cop he had "had a few"! The officer did the necessary paperwork and sent him on his way. If only he had arrested him then! The officer wasn't liable because it is what they call a "Judgement Call". What judgement?!?!?
Over 250 friends and family attended the wake and we had a benefit concert to help with the costs of the funeral. We would like to thank everyone who attended and everyone involved, especially the bands who performed! THANK YOU!!
This page was created to bring together everyone who knew Hugh. And to bring awareness to the seriousness of drunk driving!
We love you Hugh, and we miss you every day!!
