About Me

Mission Statement: Challenged by the silent majority of nonvoters and the influences of Hip Hop, the National Hip Hop Political Convention (NHHPC) is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to the political, educational, and organizational empowerment of all (disenfranchised) individuals, groups and local communities throughout the nation. The NHHPC collaborates with national and international partners to increase grassroots activism and civic participation. Please add this site if you would like to keep up with what will be going down with the convention and if you are interested in getting involved. Please note: this is not an outlet for your music nor are we asking for folks to come perform. We are looking for soldiers!!! Activists! Educators! Liberators!Overall Purpose of the NHHPC is to: *Develop and promote a political agenda for the Hip Hop Generation.*Create a national organizational infrastructure for the Hip Hop community.*Develop leadership from the Hip Hop activist community and bring a voice to a generation that has been disregarded, locked up and shut out.The work of the NHHPC is grounded in the following: Grassroots Activism, Civic Education, Economic Self Determination, Voter Participation and Cultural Inspiration. The NHHPC targets young adults to increased civic education and community involvement. Work with this particular age group is driven by the belief that each generation has a specific role to play in the development and sustainability of the community-at-large. We are working to equip the Hip Hop Generation with the skills and information necessary to carry out their roles as active and engaged citizens.PrinciplesThe principles guiding our work coincide with those put forth by the Universal Zulu Nation, one of the founding organizations for Hip Hop Culture. These principles are Knowledge, Wisdom, Understanding, Freedom, Justice, Equality, Peace, Unity, Love, Respect, Work, and Fun.The Hip Hop Political Agenda was created at the 2004 Convention buy participants from all over the country. The delegates narrowed the agenda to five (5) issues. 1.Education, 2. Economic Justice, 3. Criminal Justice, 5. Health and Wellness, and 5.Human Rights. At the 2006 Convention in Chicago the issues of 6. Womanism/Gender Justice and 7. Media Justice was added to the Hip Hop Political Agenda.

It was a beautiful thing and the only option they had was to try and use Mancow a washe up shock jock, to try and make jokes after M1 left. He had cats speechless. They thought they would pick an easy fight and got pummeled on. Andreas Hale from HipHopdx.com gives the play by play. Later on had M-1 come on my radio show to expound upon his points. Yep Fox News picked her wrong dude to mess with.. Peep the interview http://odeo.com/audio/11156593/view Click HERE to peep Interview

Music:

Hip Hop, the real stuff.. the stuff that makes you think, that motivates you to do something with your life or to help others... Hip Hop can be used as a tool to educate and liberate, if it is used right, if not it can be used to oppress! (Kinda like religion)

Spook Who Sat by the Door, Bandit Queen, Battle of Algers, V for Vendetta, Sankofa, Quilombo... see the trend????
