About Me

It saddens me to report that the weather conditions during the recent week have lead to the cancellation of the 18th annual Taree Envirofair … mind you, we still love the rain … but not so much on our parade!? …. Also during recent days, there have been a plethora of performances around the area as part of the Manning Valley Festival Of The Arts. Dr Dub and myself were invited to take part in one of them as dance party DJs after an underwater musical and theatrical interpretation of Tim Winton’s ‘Fable For Children’ … “Blueback”. This wonderful production had many contributors and an original score by Ian Barker with songs by Peggy van Zalm, Louis Tillet (who travelled a long way to be present at the performance), Single Gun Theory and Grass Hopper……. sustenance was provided by the Soul Food Kitchen and sounds by the Beat Factory …. ….. after the long trek back down the mountain, I thought I’d stay in the party mood for the Roots’n’Reggae show on Sunday …… starting with “Give Peace A Chance” from Aerosmith and Sierra Leone’s Refuge Allstars followed by “Houdini” from Culver City Dub Collective, “Take Me Back To Piaui” from Juca Chaves, “The NPG” from Biggabush … a new track from Stephen and Damian Marley “The Mission”, “Justice” (live) from Ziggy Marley and a remixed version of “Lively Up Yourself” from the Wailers by Eric ET Thorngren ….. Elan Atias (current front man with the Wailers) shared his track “I Wanna Yell” with Gwen Stefani, Noiseshaper gave us the House Dub Remix of “Walking” and Kid Kenobi’s session RMX “Bushmaster” featuring MC Shureshock and Dennis Bovell on bass … following on with the Automatic edit from Real to Reel with Noiseshaper and “Fire Fi Me Roots”…. Back to the masters for a spell with “Rastafari” from Lee Scratch Perry, “Our Music” from Burning Spear and “River Niger” from Sly Dunbar’s 1982 release “Sly-go-ville” …. Uptempo again with Lightning Head’s “Popcorn”, Finley Quaye’s “Ultra Stimulation”, Pressure Drop and Biggabush’s soundsystem version of “Knok Knok”, the funky “Master Blaster” done Chalice style … “King Dub Rock” performed the Dreadzone way giving us “Tremors” from Roots Bloody Rootsman who took us “In Between Days” with Sunshiners then lead us into the blues show with a wonderful live version of “I Shot The Sheriff” from Eric Clapton …. My Interests

I coordinate and host a weekly "roots'n'reggae" program on the north coast of NSW. I love reggae, more reggae and anything remotely reggae and Blues in all its sensual styles....Genuine and homegrown artists and their passions and desires....I work in a women and children's refuge because there is need....I have hope for our ailing humanity, Peace for our ailing world....I yearn for Music, Community, Trees and RAIN for our earth, our loved ones and our wildlife....and I have a desire for all forms of violence against children to end.

I'd like to meet:

Artistic people .... music makers .... music lovers .... music love makers .... love music makers .... love maker's music makers .... musicians and thinkers, all and any .... and disciples of the red, gold and green fraternity ...

Music:

Reggae in all its forms and the older and dirtier the blues, the better. Anything that makes me move and think and feel .... oh hey, all of it!!! Taken in large or small doses, the louder and more often the better! At the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia’s 2007 national conference and gala awards dinner in Melbourne, 2bob radio was the proud recipient of the coveted annual Tony Staley Award. It recognises activities that promote the values of community broadcasting, democracy, diversity and independence. A visual presentation was also aired at the conference which saluted and documented 2bob’s 21 year history.

Movies:

"The Harder They Come" and "Rockers" = Jamaican royalty. "Dead Man" with Johnny Depp and music by Neil Young. Black and white art films. ALL music films ... ever ... except maybe some of the stuff from the 1950's. And most Johnny Depp movies ... especially the off the wall ones .... did I mention music films ....

Television:

ABC 2 and SBS rock! Great for offerings of truthful/original portrayals of the human condition ... exposing things we are proud of as humans and ESPECIALLY the things we are not proud of as humans! Anything that tells our true history and includes our traditional land owners. Other than that, only good for watching music dvds through the stereo.

Books:

Music and truthful bios. There are way too many SELF HELP "bibles".

Heroes:

Muso's and artists; family and farmers; Hippies from all eras; Survivors, with or without visible scars; Traditional land owners and our Indigenous mobs. Respect.
