A dynamic blend of soul, skilful musicianship and pure, raw energy characterises the unique music of singer, song-writer and multi-percussionist Neda. After an industrious several years fronting Melbourne-based Brazilian percussion outfit Tumburumba, and performing with artists including The Red Eyes, Bomba, Diaffrix, Mista Savona and Daddy Cool, Neda is now making her mark as one Australia’s most exciting musical front women.
Her songs “Mysterious Love†and “Slippery†exemplify what we can expect from Neda: infectiously upbeat music with lively big band arrangements and spirited vocals conveying a thought provoking, positive message. In short, music which makes you want to get up and dance!
Incorporating elements of electro, roots, hip hop and Latin, Neda’s eclectic music style also reveals her love affair with Brazil. Inspired by the greats such as Sergio Mendes, Olodum, Ilyeiye and Carlinos Brown, Neda traveled to Brazil in 2005 where she studied and performed Brazilian percussion and vocals with a range of accomplished artists.
Since returning to Australia the following year, Neda has continued her colourful musical journey, and has played at some of Australia’s most loved festivals including East Coast Blues and Roots, Big Day Out, Splendor on the Grass and Womad. Neda has also had the fortune of supporting Angelique Kidjo, Ziggy Marley, Paul Kelly, The Black Seeds and John Farnham, just to name a few.
Neda’s foray into various musical styles, and her extensive performance experience over the past decade has culminated in a highly original sound ripe to enthuse audiences all around the world. And, Neda’s impressive musical talent is matched by her onstage energy and charisma. A trained dancer, Neda effortlessly incorporates energetic dance into her live performances, captivating her audiences - and always engaging them to feel a part of the show.
