Ella Thompson

Unlike most Australian kids of her generation, Ella grew up listening to the sounds of Donny Hathaway, Etta James and Gladys Knight and the Pips. It was the love of soul and jazz music that made Ella want to sing. She started performing and writing songs at an early age, and is now 20 years old. She has had experience well beyond her years, after touring the country with Renee Geyer, Paul Kelly, Diesel, supported Stax legend Mavis Staples and playing major festivals.Ella has travelled to LA and New York to write with various songwriters and musicians. Ella has also appeared on television shows such as “Rockwiz” and is quickly gaining credibility as a promising young artist. Ella has released a self titled EP in 2007 and mini album “Only of you” in 2008. She is currently studying Improvisation at Melbourne's Victorian College of the Arts and writing new songs, creating a new sound inspired by artists such as Radio Head, Jeff Buckley, Santogold, Jamie Liddel and Bilal.
