MATT HODGE. After studying percussion at Chethams school of music and then doing a jazz performers course at Leeds college of music, I turned pro in 1990 and worked around the north of England with various artists including Jive Bunny, The Nolan Sisters, Jimmy James and the Vagabonds, The Bachelors and basically learning about being a musician the hard way in working mens clubs! I then moved to London and have depped on west end shows including Les Miserables and Smokey Joes Cafe as well as house drummer for Talk of London cabaret club. (All good reading experiences!). Drummer on the tour of the Rat Pack and played percussion in provincial shows of West Side Story, Grease and Joseph. Played with numerous top function bands in and around London and appeared on Top of the Pops and Children in Need (London). After living in Australia for a couple of years teaching, doing lots of gigs including Christine Anu and playing percussion for the show Sweeney Todd and working with Sonor drums, I came back to London and over the last couple of years I have been playing gigs all over Europe with The Tarantinos as well as some really good singer/songwriters and playing with djs including MC Fats and Dj Chef playing music varying from house to drum & bass. Also just finished in the west end depping on Daddy Cool, the Boney M musical. Working on a 7 piece RnB groove band called allgroovedup! and playing percussion with several soul, funk & hip hop bands in London and I'm starting the first of three residencies in London next month playing with DJ's playing latin, house and old skool beats as guest percussionist. 2008 has also seen me playing with violin virtuoso, David Garrett, Guitar ace Giorgio Serci, and working with original members of the band The Enid. Recording credits include Dave Calquhoun (Rick Wakeman), Dominator soundtrack (Jenga films) "Pick Me Up" magazine jingle and Barclays premiership advert. (Ben Pope). I have played Sonor drums for the last ten years and would like to thank them for endorsing me and for making the best goddam drums on the planet!!! I am playing Natal and LP congas, LP timbales and bongos, Roland electronics and use Gibralter hardware with my percussion rigs. I've just finished my studio and thanks to t'internet, I'm busy playing percussion overdubs and live drum tracks for songwriters and producers from all over the world.
