PEO , a 33 years old beatmaker, producer and songwriter, hails from Kristianstad in the southern part of Sweden. He has been studying music for about 8 years and works as a beatmaker, producer and songwriter, working with various singers. »TONIGHT« got us excited immediately with it‘s catchy melody and refrain. Beautiful clavinet sounds in the intro, handclaps galore and even strings and more synthesizer action give this tune a slightly 80s touch. Pure pop perfection, and, in a better world a Number One hit, for sure! Supreme Swedish Soul destined to fill Modern AND Northern Soul dancefloors alike!
Chicago singer DONALD McCOLLUM is back in fine form with his interpretation of the classic ballad »THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE« made famous in 1971 by New York group THE PERSUADERS. A favourite piece of music among the SUNDAE SOUL staff, so we were delighted to hear DONALD‘s soulful and intense rendition. Pure commitment and another superb production of ROB HARDT , one of the original producers of McCollum‘s debut album and 12“ »U Don‘t Want My Love«. You should check his remix for COOL MILLION ‘s »Naughty Girl« as well, he‘s doing nice stuff.
So here we go again: one for the dancers and one for the soul!

This is the labels first 12“ by Nashville, Tennessee born singer Larry Gene London. He left the city (which is best known as the heart of country music of course, but has always been a home of soulful music as well) in the late 70s and came to Germany. Larry, being a lifetime soul fan, worked in several musical projects since then. In the UK he collaborated with Heatwave keyboarder and songwriter/ producer Rod Temperton and sang and played in various soul bands over the years. After a musical pause, Larry went back to his roots in soul music after he had met German producer Thorsten Scheu aka Glance. Being a DJ as well, spinning soulful stuff from all ages, Thorsten Scheu produced records for several labels in Germany, UK and the US. They both connected very well together and decided to create a couple of songs together which led to some soulful tunes, from uptempo house to slow groovers. »A Love Like That« was handed first to UK‘s top modern soul DJ Terry Jones for approval, who immediately decided to include it on his upcoming compilation »Village Soul Vol.2«

for Expansion Records . It has a certain 9ties, kinda Soul II Soul flavour attached to it and sure will please the dancers. »We Will Find A Way« & »Don‘t Walk On By« on the b-side are more laid-back, the latter a beautiful slow jam about unrequited love.

It's a split single featuring the artists MARYS MINE & 6AM. MARYS MINE is a debuting neosoul singer and songwriter named Maria Friberg from Stockholm, Sweden. Sundae Soul Rec. is proud to release her first single »MARVIN« , a 7ties influenced uplifting dance track with a wonderful voice and compelling stabs of brass. It‘s a personal homage to Marvin Gaye who, among other soul icons, has had a great impact on her. The love of soul music started when at an early age she discovered Michael Jacksons »Off The Wall« and Stevie Wonders »Songs In The Key Of Life«. And it has grown through soul music of today, like Lauryn Hill and John Legend. MARYS MINE has been working under her real name as a freelance vocalist in various constellations and genres. Foremost soul, pop and jazz bands, but also doing backing vocals and music theatre. A few years back she decided to focus on her own material: soul with its heart in the 7ties soundscape combined with personal lyrics. She is currently working in her studio on a debut album. »MARVIN« has been written, arranged and produced completely by MARYS MINE. It‘s a song about the healing power of music - a power that can touch your soul and lift your spirit...
