Clarence Carter's "Patches" and "Ghetto Child" by The Detroit Spinners were 2 of my early favourite soul records.I was in my first year of comprehensive school when Freeez's "Southern Freeze" was released. I think that was the record that started it off for me. It was such a cool tune and it was new! I went off in search of more. By the time I had left school, I was DJing in a couple of pubs in South London and my love affair with the soul music scene was cemented with my first visit to a "Soul Weekender".Having met my wife at the Caister Soul Weekender (we were married on the way up to the following year's event), I moved around the M25 and started playing my records in Essex, London and on internet radio.At present I have regular appearances at the legendary "Lacy Lady", "Melting Pot" and "Henry's Bar". I also present "Jump Start", the saturday morning breakfast show on Solar Radio.

Music:

I grew up listening to pretty much everything from classical to 60's pop music (Dad's record collection) and it was the Motown and Stax tunes that stood out from the rest. Gladys Knight and Dionne Warwick were 2 of my favourite female vocalists. I loved the whole Two Tone & Ska revival of the late 70's early 80's. The Specials and The Beat had an edge to their music. By my teenage years I had become a huge Electro and Hip Hop fan! Big Daddy Kane, Rakim and Melle Mel were some of the best rap artists ever! It was hunting for the source of the samples and breaks that led me back into Soul and Funk. I've spent the last few years really enjoying the jazzy side of the scene, Nu-Jazz and Afrobeat sounds have really struck a chord with me.

Movies:

I'm a big fan of James Bond. I mean I'm a fan of J.B. in a big way, not that i'm a fan who's big. Also I love a good silly comedy, "Anchorman", "The Jerk" and "Airplane II" are some of my faves.

Books:

Colouring? Definitely!!! Must come with 20 felt pens, I don't want to be fobbed off with 10! A wide and varied spectrum of colour is everything!!! Actually the last book I read was "Catch 22" on my honeymoon 5 years ago. Note to self: Must read more books.
