BIOG
“That sound...What’s that coming from…? then it hit me. I closed my eyes and became locked into this incredible sense of infinity, of timelessness, a swirling centrifuge of bliss".
Genre mangling N-funk futurists NAPT dwell below the central streets of an overcrowded metropolis in a near pitch black environment. When the dark becomes punctuated by the flickering lights of analogue racks they come to life making a soundtrack for your insides and out. With one hand caressing the golden musical sounds of years gone by, the other beckons a call to technological future. Look backwards, look forwards, look inside. Harbouring an unabashed love for musicality and unswerving passion for bass and rhythm NAPT have created a new sound. A sound that nods towards the inner warmth of early house, hails the music that blew out of UK pirate radio and pays tribute to the block-rocking energy of those beats that came chopped up from NY city.
NAPT’s first release was a remix for Sony of Jon Cutlers club hit 'Its Yours' which reached Number 27 in the UK singles chart. They then went on to produce a string of club smashing breaks singles for established labels including Plastic Raygun and Rat Records. Recently their “Contrast†four part EP series saw them work with luminaries MJ Cole, MC Skibadee, G-Double, Ken Mac and Miss Trouble. “Contrast†has consistently been at the top of breakbeat charts, played on radio shows the world over and gathered support from all sides of the dance music spectrum. From house supremo Miles Dyson to cool kids favourite Kissy Sell Out to UK grime ambassador DJ Cameo, the N-Funk sound has infiltrated many a DJ’s box. Their tracks appear on numerous compilations and their productions have been used on several international advertisement campaigns and television shows. NAPT have also remixed some of the undergrounds most respected artists including MJ Cole, The Freestylers, Ills, Klaus Hill, Reid Speed and major label artists on Island Def Jam and Sony. NAPT’s steady rise to the pinnacle of breakbeat culminated in a nomination for Best Producer at Breakspoll 2008, standing shoulder to shoulder with the scenes biggest players, the Stanton warriors, Plump DJ’s, Rogue Element and Elite Force.
As DJ’s NAPT’s in demand skills scooped them the Breakthrough DJ award at Breakspoll 2006. This along with their futuristic N-Funk sound has led to many international shows including four tours of the U.S/Canada, three of France, three of Spain, not to mention numerous other European dates and has seen them become residents at one of London’s most esteemed clubs Herbal, guest on high profile radio shows (BBC Radio 1, Kiss FM, Galaxy FM) and receive rapturous applause as they closed Fabric’s main room at Breakspoll 2007.
Catch NAPT as they spread the N-Funk gospel worldwide.
Ignore the hype and listen, listen to the future sound that is N-Funk.
