Its like a new pattern is needed, break free from the old ways proceeded. It’s a challenge, can you manage if you’re bleeding on the floor? Gotta get up brush yourself down, put your chin up always. Look back at the old days too much… you get lost and out of touch. Its like we’re too scared of the fall, so we live our lives in default. And what we produce is minimal, if you ask me, that’s criminal. Shoulda been united by now, enlightened by now, stopped fighting by now. But instead we’re lying and hiding, when people dying right now. Its time for amending…we’re bending new corners. Message that we’re sending: Peace, fight for the same cause!
Miss Trouble MC
This woman started hitting the right notes about 10 years ago when her mates ‘forced’ her to rap live on air during a show on Interface Pirate-Radio (one of the 1st ever UK-based Internet radio stations) to a then unknown Bristolian producer called Clipz (Full Cycle). Much to her surprise people logged on enjoyed it which led to a career path that she has since endeavoured to climb all the way.
In the 10 years as a MC, singer and songwriter, Miss Trouble has only just come to the surface, kicking off this year into the DnB scene with her fresh approach to MC-ing. Last year she envisaged two DnB releases, one on Nookie’s label and one on Phantasy’s imprint. The latter is with DJ Shodan who she has been working with for the past year on breakbeat label Funkatech (which for those in the know has been her camp for the past couple of years alongside sister label Sub Frequency Funk). The former is a track entitled ‘My Soul’ by DJ Madcap already released last year on Strictly-Digital and with a remix from Nookie will appear as a 2-sided plate on Phuzion records sometime in the future.
Miss Trouble is a diverse and multi-talented artist and as a result she has been fortunate enough to put her hand to many different and exciting projects. In 2006 she was invited to perform a 3-day concert with legendary Jazz musician Erik Truffaz at the Blue Note in Milan. This was a result of being seen singing and mc-ing at a gig with her live dance band Subterfuse, who are also making a name of their own, having just played at the NuJaz Festival in Montreal alongside Herbalizer. She also went on tour at the later part of 2006 with her boyfriend MC Incyte to front the Welsh electronica one-man project Culprit 1, supporting American hip-hop band Subtle on the UK leg of their tour.
2007 saw Trouble redirect her energies back into the scene which she started at – DnB - concentrating on new material both for herself and her band. Having been to college to learn production skills, Trouble now finds herself creating music more and more on her laptop and regularly programmes tracks for Subterfuse. On a writing tip she is widening her scope to encompass many styles that resides within her – from hip hop and poetry, to house, electro, jazz, drum and bass and everything in between. In the summer, Miss Trouble MC-ed for 4 hours to a crowd of 3000 people on the beach of the world-famous Cannes Film Festival with DJ’s Fresh and Elisa Do Brazil. New Years Eve 2007 gave Trouble her third Moondance booking where she played alongside Kool FM’s DJ Kane and MC Ken Mac: I think it’s safe to say they rocked the f***ing house down!
Miss Trouble is proud to be an official artist on the Essence of Chi Agency (who organised her first NYE booking at Moondance) and has a residency at Nookie’s event ‘Atmosphere’ and Subterra’s night ‘Rotation’. This year Trouble plans to concentrate on doing more international gigs and radio shows. Although she has done some hot guest shows such as the MC Sessions on BBC1Xtra, she has wanted to have her own show to invite talented DJ’s and MC’s to guest on – so she and her other half MC Incyte created the ‘Pro-Active show’ on www.innacityfm.com to do just that. Together they run their weekly Friday night slot 8-10pm featuring guests on rotation such as Far Too Loud (winners of single of the year, Breakspoll 2006), Dr S Gachet, Subterra, DJ Mutiny, DJ Shodan, Renegade Boys, and NAPT (nominated best Producer at Breakspoll 2007) showcasing UK underground music across the whole dance spectrum.
2008 already seems to be causing a storm for Miss Trouble: she had her first appearance on D&BTV with rising star Subterra and also on the infamous Kool FM alongside DJ Turbulence and MC Illmatika. On a recording tip Miss Trouble has a few tracks due for release in the pipeline on various labels and is also working again with the Rogue Element on his second album. Everything else is hush for now…watch this space! ?
