Hyper records began by accident as British rapper Freaky was trying to crack the charts with cross over hip hop in 1989, Due to his frustration in securing a record deal, he decided with the advice from the DJ Jazzy M to release a white label which would get his material out and a possibility of making some money as well. The first track was entitled “In the Cold” which was a rap track by The Killer MC’s (Angel& Freaky). On the flip was a trance/rap track entitled “Do the Freaky” which gained more response due to the summer of love and the acid rave scene which was starting to boom. Hyper records was born, The first 8 releases were written and produced by freaky and as the music moved from deep house to the breakbeat influence which at the time called Hardcore, Freaky was MCing for Finbar's Pirate club rave's when Moose was starting out, As the rave's moved into clubs at Dungeon's and Rage Jungle Hardcore was being born. At that time Freaky hooked up with House DJ's Danelle & Rochelle and was acting as the frontman for Bass-construction's old school anthem "Dance With Power", doing live PA's up and down the country and Europe along side the Courtney Twins. As the music split from Jungle-techno. Techno went one way Jungle the other, Hyper records was at the fore front of the scene which became Drum & Bass, developing and bringing artists through like DJ Panick, DJ Flashback, DJ Crisis, Sappo, DJ Stomp, Dom& Roland and DJ Clipz.

Hyper wear....During the late 90’s Hyper moved into other ventures Raves and Merchandising. 3 successful raves were held at the Hammersmith Emerald Center, the 4th and final was at the Point in London's west end. Merchandise was a success, at one stage you could not pass through west London without seeing the distinctive symbol on someone chest or back. Selling well both sides of the Atlantic, New York and Washington became popular area’s for Hyperwear. To be re-issued due to popular demand

Freaky has always been doing different styles of music ever since Hyper turned prominently Drum and bass. Often gigging with live band crossing genre’s of music from indie rock to Electro. Over the last 3 years he has recorded 2 un-released albums with Steve Augustine A.K.A Yorkshire Terrier or Smooth Dog. The first is on the live drum and bass tip. The second more dance/mainstream. He’s at the moment working on a new live project with plans to gig so watch this space.

Short films.... Music video'sFreaky has always been a writer, and used his skill he discovered at school to pen so far 5 short films. Freaky’s films normally have an urban feel to them, and due to the lack of budget it adds to the feel of the films. The films either have a realism edge to it or total wackiness. I'm looking for artist and labels who need music video's produced to contact me. Most of the films and video's are done with low budget, just like Drum and Bass it's a struggle and a challenge but that's what makes the reward of success even sweeter.

Last word.......It give’s me great pleasure to think that from the desire of being a body popper I have been involved in giving birth to a sound called Drum and Bass. From the day Africa Bambataa drummed some beats on my walldrobe in my council flat home in Brentford, while me and MC Angel busted lyrics to him thank to Milly Mills a.k.a(Milton Mc kalpine of the London city breakers), it was like I was annointed so it seems fitting that through me came DJ Clipz, Miss Trouble and MC Contact . Talent from the Heart these people are blessed with the spirit of the Music... This is my time in my space, music is finally free. ...watch this space for merchandise and freebies
