Writing, comedy, questing for the perfect mate.
I've already met Tim Gautreaux, Rick Bragg, and Chesley Calloway, three of my favorite contemporary Southern writers. I missed my chance to meet the venerable Miss Eudora Welty. And while I would welcome an opportunity to have coffee with Ellen Gilchrist, Edward D. Hoch is still tops on my list. But time she is a-tickin'.... I hope the clock doesn't run out on that one! As you can see, my heroes are writers. What a thrill it would have been to meet Shakespeare or Mark Twain! At this point in my life, a supreme thrill would be meeting the man behind the nom de plume Antonio Winnebago. *************NOTICE: I won't add strangers as friends (unless you send me a message giving me a good reason first). Thanks for understanding, or at least pretending to. Also, if we're friends and/or family and you happen to post a bunch of annoying bulletins, I'll be left with no choice but to delete you.
Old School: Ella Fitzgerald (of course), Etta James, Louis Armstrong, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Beatles, Creedence, Sam Cooke (even though for years I thought he was "dancing with the chicken slacks"), The Police, Hall & Oates, Billy Joel.Contemporary: Third Eye Blind, 3 Doors Down, John Mayer, Susan Tedeschi.
Best Friends, Fandango, The Godfather I & II, The Deerhunter, Sordid Lives, and The Gods Must Be Crazy are among my favorites.
M*A*S*H, Cheers, Seinfeld, Frasier, Scrubs, House, ER, Sex and the City.... you know.... smartly-written stuff. On those rare days when I'm home sick and forced to watch daytime TV, Ellen and Dr. Phil are witty & smart. I could care less who da baby daddy be.
The Once and Future King by T.H. White is my all-time favorite. Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys by Chris Fuhrman, short stories by Tim Gautreaux, mystery anthologies, Letters From a Nut, STEINBECK: A Life in Letters, erotica anthologies, dang near anything by Mark Twain.
My mother (of course), is a guiding force in my life. I admire Mark Twain, Groucho Marx and Mae West for their comic wit.
