About Me

Charis Circle is the non-profit sister of Charis Books & More, the South's oldest & largest feminist bookstore (and one of the few remaining in the country!). The Circle organizes free, educational programming to the community as part of maintaining a feminist vision.Mission statement: Charis Circle exists to foster sustainable feminist communities, to work for social justice and to encourage the expression of diverse and marginalized voices.Program Activities: Charis Circle serves our mission by hosting educational programs and organizing direct action to advance social justice; and by facilitating writing groups, author readings, book groups and cultural events (open mic and movie viewings) to encourage the expression of diverse and marginalized voices. We foster sustainable feminist communities in our internal and community work by connecting all forms of oppression, working in coalition with others, having fun together and operating according to established ground rules to promote empowerment and respect. Charis Circle partners with Charis Books and More to provide a welcoming community gathering space open to the public 7 days a week.
