Librarian Lisa

It's the latest; it's the greatest ... it's the library!

About Me

I am a librarian, so I love to read and I love to surf the 'Net. I got an MLS after two years of online study. Previously, I worked as a librarian, editorial assistant and copy editor at the Times Herald-Record for 26 long years. Into my 24th year there, I knew it was time for a change. It was the best decision I ever made. I do miss a few of the people whom I worked with, but I'm happy to be making new friends with colleagues and library patrons.I love musical theater, most kinds of music, travel, the shore and making new friends, especially anyone else who likes to read or likes libraries and librarians.

I'd like to meet:

Like in person, here or in the after-life?In person: Bill Clinton because he is just so suave; Bruce Springsteen, who I saw from about 10 feet away at a concert at Giants Stadium on my birthday; Jason Giambi because he is my favorite Yankee (You can keep that Jeter dweeb.).Here: Members of my family, as well as people I've lost touch with from high school and college; old pals from the Record; and anyone who loves libraries and thinks librarians are the coolest people on this planet (because we are!).The after-life: I definitely hope to see my Mom again (so I guess I better be good while I'm here) and I want to meet JFK Jr. and God, but not necessarily in that order.

Music:

Bruce Springsteen, Kelly Clarkson, Sarah McLachlan, and Three Card Monte. (Be sure to check out their Web site here on myspace.com because they are awesome.) I love rock and roll - Led Zep, Pink Floyd, the Stones, Aerosmith, the Eagles, etc.; some alternative, some show tunes.

Movies:

The Russians Are Coming The Russians Are Coming, Singin' in the Rain, Gone With the Wind, When Harry Met Sally, It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Pirates of the Caribbean

Television:

Not much into the TV thing, although I enjoy Dancing With the Stars and American Idol, as well as watching reruns of older shows - I Love Lucy, F Troop, Three's Company, The Honeymooners and others. TV stinks.

Books:

Stephanie Plum mysteries by Janet Evanovich, Big Stone Gap series and other books by Adriana Trigiani, The Ice Queen by Alice Hoffman, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein, Ten Little Elvi (it's a kids counting book, but it is fabulous), Book Lust and More Book Lust by Nancy Pearl
