About Me

Hey, there, friends! I’m Katrina Estes Hill, an artist/writer/storyteller from Louisville, MS. I do storytelling for family reunions, schools, libraries, bookstores, church and civic groups...heck, I’ll even come to your house and perform at your backyard bar-b-que! My stories are suitable for any kind of event, as long as you want the event to be down-home Southern. My audience ranges in age from 5 to 105. I tell “Fatdaddy’s Watermelon and Other Tales from the Hollow”, true stories from my experience growing up in rural Mississippi. Some will make you laugh and some might make you cry, but I can guarantee any Southerner a walk down Memory Lane. I can also teach a Yankee a thing or two about our old rural culture! My first children’s book, “My Imagination” was released in August 2007, and is receiving great reviews! It’s in bookstores now and signed copies may be ordered through my website at www.katrinaesteshill.com. It’s for ages up to 7 years old. My art is currently on exhibit at the Gin Mill Galleries in Indianola and will soon be featured on Good People Brewing Company’s labels. (That’s a new micro-brewery startin’ up in Birmingham...check ‘em out.) Holler at me sometime. Until then, be well, folks!..

My Interests

I enjoy creating art, writing and reading poetry, hiking, fishing, laughing, singing, telling stories. I love being in the woods enjoying nature. I spend most of my time with the person that I have the most in common with...ME...and my family of pets, of course. I have a wonderful adult son who is the absolute light of my life.

I'd like to meet:

Music:

It's difficult to say what my favorite music is. I pretty much like it all.

Movies:

My favorite comedy ever is "Raising Arizona"...sort of ties with "Kingpen". Loved "Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion" and "The Big Lebowski". Favorite dramas are "The Color Purple", "Terms of Endearment", "Platoon", "Fried Green Tomatoes", "The Legends of the Fall", "Dead Poet's Society". I could watch "Pride and Prejudice" every day. Oh, yeah, "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction", of course. Tarantino is a genius.

Television:

I'm a "Fox News" junkie. Love "Court TV" and "A & E". Not big on network TV.

Books:

The "Conversations with God" series, "Tuesdays with Morrie", "Ishmael"...are among my favorite books. "Running with Scissors" is hilarious. I'm a Stephen King fan, as well.

Heroes:

Prison

I cannot bear to see an animal tied up or in a cage. It's hard to imagine how awful it must be to have something as important and obviously God-granted as freedom taken away from me. When I see one o...

My son snoozed beneath cozy flannel sheets while I took granddog, Layla, and my bunch out walking through the Hollow and across Fatdaddy's pond dam. Nice frigid Thanksgiving morning. We had so mu...
