Mudville's Finest!

About Me

I am just a big fan from the Miami, OK area who wanted to get some Crawdad music up on myspace and share it with everyone, and to help keep Steve and Cassie's legacy/music alive. I also want the other guys in the group to get the respect they deserve as musicians, they were amazing! For those that may not know, Crawdads was the band Steve was in directly prior to his joining Skynyrd. Many people don't realize that Steve Gaines wasn't just "the guitarist from Skynyrd"...he was an incredibly gifted songwriter as well, and had one HELL of a singing voice. For instance, take the Lynyrd Skynyrd song "I Know A Little". Steve wrote that-I have the original crawdads version on this page. I'm lucky enough to know Ronnie Brooks, Crawdad's drummer. Through hangin out with him, I was introduced to their music; and telling me some awesome stories/memories of his I got hooked. Ronnie's son Bobby is one of my best friends and he is actually the drummer in the same band my boyfriend is guitarist for. I just want to keep this AWESOME music alive along with the memories of Steve and Cassie Gaines, who are from Miami, aka Mudville. More people should know who this band was, so here you go! These guys still are very influential on a lot of musicians today, the talent is undeniable- they kicked some okie ass! :)

My Interests

Music:

Member Since: 1/4/2007
Band Members: Steve Gaines, Terry Emery, John Moss, John Seaberg, Ronnie Brooks

Influences: I will be updating this soon, but I do know that one of Steve's greatest influences was Jimi Hendrix. Ronnie has told us a story about one time they all went up to Kansas City to watch Jimi Hendrix in concert (for like less than $10 too, isn't that awesome?)....well of course the guys were drinkin a little and Steve got a lil bit too hammered off the wine they had, and passed out in the van they took up there for like half of the Hendrix show. Ronnie said he was not a very happy camper when he woke up, but he did catch the other half of the show, because he loved Hendrix. Just wanted to share, I think that's a cool ass story!~ Adrienne

~~~ It was brought to my attention also that Ted (Pepper) King was responsible for a lot of the live recordings that we have of Crawdads, actually setting the equipment up for them and all; and I just wanted to make that known. And thank you Pepper, for making it possible to keep this music alive. You are a sorely missed man, buddy. (At the beginning of One In The Sun Steve plays the song for Ted King-that's Pepper. :)
Sounds Like: A cross between Bob Marley, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Freddie King, all mixed together. Sounds like Crawdads! It's really impossible to put a label on.
Record Label: unsigned
Type of Label: None
