Slugger Trask was raised Miami Ok. He was childhood friends With the late Steve and Cassie Gaines ( of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame ) and younger brother Bob Gaines. Ace Moreland, Barry Rapp ( of The Henry Paul Band and Ghost Riders ) so you can see this generation was loaded with musical talent for such a small town. Slugger and his brother Skipper, were born into a musical family were his mother influenced them at a young age. Slugger learned trumpet in grade school but soon found his calling on a piano. Through his early years he was in numerous band including The TNT Band which was founded by Slugger and his brother Skipper . In the early 80..'s Slugger and Skipper moved to Jacksonville Fl to try and jump start their music career. They met Mark Lockhart through mutual friend Bob Gaines and imediately became best of friends. Mark and Slugger founded The Diamond in the Rough Band. This was a rock band with high energy. Sluggers talent spead like wild fire and his soulful voice left people amazed. It wasn't long before Slugger was recruited by Bob Greenly, owner of Kingsnake Records out of Sanford Fl, and Guitar exstrordinar Drew Lumbar to join the band Grinderswitch. Later Lumbar and Trask formed Dr. Hector an the Groove Injectors and signed a 2 year 2 album deal with Kingsnake Records and were later signed by Ichiban Record. During the years with Dr. Hector Slugger played and tour with such greats as Alex and James Taylor, B.B. King, Greg Allman, Koko Taylor, Bo Didley, members of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band, 38 Special, The Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, The Henry Paul Band, and The Cate Brothers, just to name a few. with Dr Hector, Slugger recorded 4 solid albums and had, a very successful run. Slugger left Dr. Hector in the mid 90's. He started The Slugger Grand Slam Band which lasted just a couple years. Up until 2000 Slugger had several bands which included, Stepdaddy and Mudcat with only local success. Mark and Slugger began recording tracks in Jan of 2006 and 6 weeks later the demo album "Slugger Trask Groove Injected" was born. The album went on to be nominated for a 2007 IBC Music Award (formally known as the W.C. Handy Award) for Best Self Produced Album of the Year. Now back together with his long time friend he has been rejuvinated and the creative juices have begun to flow. Slugger is an incredible vocalist, musician, songwriter and composer. Watch out for this band. If you like a blues based music with an edge, they are a must listen. Slugger and Mark have already began writing the sequil "Livin the Blues" and are expected to release it sometime in the summer of 2008. They are also working on a chistian project. give Thank You Lord, Come And Follow My Jesus and Heavens the Only Place a listen @www.myspace.com/thecztraskband We hope you like it. Mark Lockhart hails from Oceanside Ca. Like Slugger Mark started playing music at a very youg age. Influenced by his father a world class vocalist, Mark began playing the clarinet in second grade. His music teachers were Mr. Reed, and Mr. Kimble for those of you locals who took a music program in the S.D school system. By 5th grade Mr. Richard Halseth had taken over the music program and convinced Mark to take up the sax. Which he played through High School. When Mark was in Jr. High Mr Halseth moved to Oceanside High School, and Mr. Ritchie Langin ( of the Langin Brothers Band ) took over at Jefferson Jr. High and started teaching Mark how to play a bass guitar, Mr. Langen had Mark join his nephew, Jay Wesloh, and drummer Mike Quiroz ( of Incognito ) to form The Outcast Band, where he played until high school. After high school Mark moved to Jax Fl. where he met Bob Gaines a drummer ( younger brother to the Great Steve and Cassie Gaines ). They soon became best of friends and played in several local bands together. Shortly after, Bob introduced Mark to Slugger and Skipper Trask of his home town of Miami Ok. They had a band called TNT ( Trask&Trask ) and recorded their first album in Long Branch Recording, Tulsa Ok. ( then owned by Eric Clapton ) But soon after Slugger moved to Jax. permanently where he and Mark founded Diamond in the Rough, with guitar wizard Toni Butrum. After Slugger was signed with Kingsnake Records. Mark kicked around Jax Playing with several small groups. One of which was Mixed Nut's featuring the late Leon Wilkerson (of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame) and Susan Clark, daughter of Roy Clark. In the late 80..'s when Skynyrd reunited, Mark moved back to Calif where he and his brother formed The Eggmen, later changed to Blind Dog and tooled around the local clubs in S.D. for a few years. In 1991 Mark moved to L.A. He stayed out of the main stream music life until reuniting with Slugger in Oct. of 2005. Mark went to Oklahoma in January of 2006 where he and Slugger along with guitarists Glenn Sears and Chuck Maiseroulle recorded their new 16 track demo. Ten songs were picked and the album " Slugger Trask-Groove Injected" was released in the spring of 2006. The album went on to be nominated for a 2007 IBC Music Award (formally known as the W.C. Handy Award) for Best Self Produced Albumof the Year. In 2007 the band took 1st Place in The Bands of the World Tour which took the band to the west coast for the early half of 2007. The band can now be seen playing venues in the four state area surrounding Oklahoma and on the Cherokee Casino Circuit. Slugger and Mark have put together some remarkable talent to form The Slugger Trask Blues Band. The Band is also working on it's next album "Livin The Blues" and is expected to release it sometime this summer. Michael (Bam Bam) Quiroz was born in Oceanside, California where he began his education as a drummer in elementary school. His hard work and dedication to becoming a world class percussionist paid off by the time he had graduated high school in 1977. Immediately opportunities began to come his way. Before long he was playing in the best local San Diego bands, Private Stock, Millers Outpost, Incognito Rockers, The Reflectors and Bad Medicine. It wasn't long before his bands were opening for national acts like The Motels, Oingo Boingo, Tone Loch and The Cure. Highly recognized bands were constantly contacting Michael. As fate would have it, the call came from long time friend, Mark Lockhart, who asked Michael to join The Slugger Trask Band. Michael jumped at the opportunity to play with an IBC nominated blues vocalist, like Slugger Trask and the rest will be part of music history. John Moss (aka Moose) John Moss hails from Joplin Missouri. John broke into the music business with Miami, Oklahoma's Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Mr. Steve Gaines of Lynyrd Skynyrd fame. John was an original member of the group Crawdad and recorded with Steve Gaines's, on Crawdad's, "One in the Sun" album on Capricorn Records in the mid 1970's. The album was not released until 1987 due to Steve joining forces with the mega group Lynyrd Skynyrd. John also played in many great groups such as The Cellar Door, Man A Live, Oklahoma's Blues Hall of Famer, Ace Mooreland Band, John Moss & Friend's and the popular Smoot Mahootie Band. Thoughout the years John has traveled the U.S. from San Fransico, Ca. to Jacksonville Fl. and has played with some of the best musicians in the business. John has established himself as one of the premier guitar players to come out of the 4 state area. John is also a well established songwriter as well as a fantastic drummer. John, a long time friend of Slugger Trask now adds his talents to the Slugger Trask Band and brings with him many years of experience and seasoning. His style is a blend of Blues, R&B, and good ole Southern Rock. With his powerful, in your face, guitar leads or sweet melodic ballads, John has become an intrical member of The Slugger Trask Band. Rusty Knight,Rusty Knight hais from Joplin Missouri. Rusty was recruited by The Slugger Trask Band to replace guitarist John Arevalo (of the Rightious Brother) while John is working on his solo album. Slugger has always wanted to add a piano player to his band. With his hard work and dedication, Rusty has earned himself a permanent place as a member of the band. Rusty began playing music at a very young age and is accomplished not only on piano but several other instruments, including guitar, Rusty was hired because of his fantastic ability as a piano player, and his very strong second tenor voice. Rusty has written songs and performed with some great musicians over the years, such as The Doobie Brothers, Steve Grisham ( of the Outlaws & Ghost Riders) and Razi Bailey, who was on Kingsnake Record when Slugger was there. Rusty is quite the player and vocalist and is a welcomed addition to a band that is loaded with musical talent. John Arevalo (currently touring & working on solo project) Hails from San Antonio, Texas. From humble begginnings in south Texas to big time venues in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. John's carreer as a guitarist has provided him a wide range of experiences. While growing up, John's father exposed him to the Blues where the sound was engraved into his heart and soul. John first picked up a guitar at the tender age of sixteen. He would sit in his room mimicking B.B. King licks and playing along to " Live at the Regal ", a classic B.B. King recording. John's first guitar was a Gibson, SG standard. John would spend endless hours, day and night, skipping meals, passing on a night out with the guy's and even neglecting his girlfriend playing his guitar. Playing the guitar came naturally to John. With in six month's he had joined his first band. They played mostly the blues with a mix of Rock & Roll. Soon John had established himself as one of San Antonio's hottest pickers. John then moved on to Austin playing the Blues circuit in many of the same rooms that the late Stevie Ray Vaughn played. From there John joined forces with Bobby Byrd ( James Browns right hand man) playing R&B. They toured the "Chittlin Circuit", dance halls and juke joints all over Mississippi, Alabama, Goergia and Florida. It was then that John really honed his rythym skills with some real soul musicians. John's next big move took him to Southern California where he played in several bands in and around Laguna Beach. Three years later John was hired by Bill Medley of The Righteous Brothers. He toured with Bill for seven years, eventually playing with both Bill Medley and the late Bobby Hatfield. During these years John performed in some of the worlds most famous venues, including Madison Square Gardens, The Chicago Sports Arenea, and The Nashville Municipal Auditorium, just to name a few. John also performed live on the Dinah Shore Show which was aired internationally. After leaving the Righteous Brothers, John moved to San Marcos to consentrate on building his own recording studio and composing his own material. This is were John met up with The Slugger Trask Band while they were on tour. Slugger and the boys were blown away by John's versatility and asked John to become the bands newest member. Immediately they went into the studio and recorded their latest EP, Livin The Blues. John also has a solo album soon to be released.
