About me and my work:
My name is Gedley Braga. I am a Brazilian artist that works with visual arts and music.
Music is one of the most important things in my life and I think this is better explained in my other profiles: http://www.myspace.com/bragagedley

From 1990 until 1996 I used to work with watercolour. This technique is considered one of the most difficult kinds of painting process because it does not allow changing or regretting after applying the color. The nature of this technique is the transparency and the capability of planning all the details (even the appropriation of chance).
After 1997, my work has changed to a “work in progress”. I am trying to work with the constitution of another artistic language process for myself. I am discussing all these possibilities in my PhD thesis (School of Communication and Arts of the University of Sao Paulo - ECA / USP - 2008).
My first intervention as a site specific was “Warning for entrances and flags”, a red light neon with the inscription of the sentence “Culture is a weapon of mass destruction”, Sao Paulo, 2004. The explanation of this work is posted in my blog in:
http://www.myspace.com/bragagedley.
I began to make a collection of real and authentic works of contemporary Brazilian artists. The purpose of this collection is to build another web of meanings by using the possession of the works as ballast reasoning (a conceptual work of gathering the other artist works to make my own work).
The first exhibition of this process happened in the Gabinete de Arte Raquel Arnaud (in Sao Paulo – Brazil) in February of 2005. The title of the installation was LOVE & HATE. Part of this installation was also exhibited in December of 2005 in Uberlandia (Minas Gerais State).
The second solo exhibition, POSTHUMOUS WORK [Obra Póstuma] happened in GABINETE DE ARTE RAQUEL ARNAUD - SAO PAULO - BRAZIL, from February 9th until March 01st of 2008.
This profile is part of this work in progress and it is still under construction.
