Hello from the children of planet Earth.

About Me

Nick Sagan is the author of the novels: Idlewild , Edenborn , and Everfree . He is the son of astronomer Carl Sagan and artist/writer Linda Salzman. His greeting-- "Hello from the children of planet Earth" --was recorded and placed aboard NASA's Voyager I and Voyager II spacecraft, which are now the most distant human-made objects in the universe. The writer of numerous screenplays and television episodes (including Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager) Sagan dropped out of high school, but went on to graduate summa cum laude from UCLA Film School. I'd like to meet:

You. If you've read my books, come say hello. And if you haven't read me yet, let me try to persuade you...
Idlewild is a "genre-buster," mixing elements of fantasy, science fiction, mystery and horror. Some have called it an apocalyptic coming of age story and others see it as a gothic tale of unrequited love. Neil Gaiman called it, "absolutely fun, like a roller-coaster ride of fusion fiction" and "the kind of book you simply don't want to stop reading." Barnes & Noble and Borders both selected this as one of the best F/SF books of the year. I'd tell you more about it, but you're better off going in not knowing too much about the plot. Still, to give you a flavor of it, here's a picture of the antihero: Halloween .
Edenborn is a sequel to Idlewild , but can also be read as a standalone. SFX Magazine called it, "one of the best post-apocalyptic novels you will ever read." SF Crowsnest hailed it as, "an adrenaline shot straight into the heart of SF," and SF Site called it, "elegant SF, dark and haunting, with characters who linger in memory long after the last page is turned." Here's a picture of Deuce and Penny , two characters from Edenborn .
Everfree is my newest, third in the series. Sci Fi Weekly calls it, "startlingly original" and "undeniably satisfying and triumphant." Kirkus Reviews says, "Sagan's mind-blowing post-apocalyptic trilogy comes to a satisfying, terrifying conclusion." They go on to hail the book as, "a powerful plea for sensible human cooperation delivered via a knockout story."
