Get Your Own! | View Slideshow Rosa Rebecka Born in Gothenburg to a Swedish mother and an American father, Rebecka grew up by the pine forests and lakes of southern Sweden. She wrote songs and poetry from the age of five, and eventually started playing flute and guitar.
She left Sweden to study music in Devon in 1998, and spent three years in Dartington, studying, composing her songs and jamming with her fellow students.
After her graduation, she went on to work as a musician for Wren, a community music charity. She chose to stay in Devon, where she still lives, leading choirs, giving singing tuition and performing.
In 2003, Rebecka recorded the CD album Water Carvings, produced by MaJiKer. It was made in memory of her late husband Tom, a gentle and much-loved young man who died in cancer earlier that year.
In concert, Rosa Rebeckas gentle and intimate songs are alternated with traditional music; Swedish heartrending love songs and joyous polskas, her haunting voice a capella, accompanied by her guitar or soaring over the lingering note of the Tibetan singing bowl. She links the songs together through flute tunes and stories, adding yet another texture to the experience.
Rebecka has recently launched the new album 'Untold', produced by Rob Waite.
