I play the following instruments quite well: guitar, accordion, piano, harmonica, hand-drums.
But - possibly to the abject horror of the accomplished practitioner -
I also have the audacity to play the following (and anything else I can
lay my hands on) when recording: tenor horn, cello, balalaika, oud, violin, ocarina, mandolin, Celtic harp
Some people have said encouraging things about my music!
cdbaby reviews:
Anything in 5/4 pleases me, but I particularly like the simplicity, the ragged vocal, the somber loping waltz with an extra leg, and the wry storyline emerging from the imagery of the first song. I listen to it over and over, and keep returning for another hit of "Not Hercules". I would write a real review if I could be objective. Right now I am hooked. I haven't listened to any of the other songs because I'm still stuck on "Not Hercules". Help? Talk some sense to me. Am I nuts? What do you think? I think, "Good one, Dave!"

The first time I heard David Greenald, I was floored. Listening to “Not Hercules†made me drop everything to listen a few more times before venturing to Mr. Greenald’s other songs… you see, I was captivated! The spell was cast and now I have been enjoying many of David Greenald’s songs. Please be allured here as I am to one of the places where the ancients and the future meet with a rambunctious gypsy heart. Buy this cd!!! … and go ahead, sing along with the different shades of shadows in the light.

Some Myspace comments:
Your music is brilliant - I love it! I feel the same way right now as I did the first time I heard Cohen, Drake or Waits - I never thought I'd ever feel that again. IF ANYONE'S WATCHING THIS who can give this man anything he needs ... GIVE IT TO HIM!! I am utterly jaw-dropped. Thanks for pointing me your way ... You're an inspiration and a reassurance that some people are still feeling it, AND recording it. Deadly

It is an absolute joy listening to your music. It's rare finding musicians this creative, honest, and true to the sweet sounds of music. You (and your friends)
make some damned good music and I definitely want some more. EPs? LPs?
CDs? ANYTHING!!!!?

I'm dancing to "Deadman's Creek" right now. I have the hand claps down.
If I ever made a movie and it had a driving scene in it ... then I'd
ask you if I could use this song because it would be perfect ...
