About Me

Myspace Layouts - Myspace Editor - Image Hosting

I have been playing guitar since I was about 16 or 17, I think the first song I learnt to play was Zombie by the Cranberries! I don't really pride myself on being especially good at the guitar, although you might have thought you'd improve a bit after playing for 6 years....I suppose I have, there's always something to discover on the guitar!! I started writing things early than that but never really put two and two together until I was 17 ish, and I began doing open mics in my hometown Chester, sometimes just me and another time with my friend Dave Greenald (you can find him on www.myspace.com/davidgreenald) - who plays an array of musical instruments and also introduced me to the wonders of the ukelele and thumb piano! In uni I began doing a few open mics with a mate of mine Tony, forming a little duo with him playing the complicated parts on the guitar and me the easy parts :p Since i've been on my year abroad i've done a couple of gigs in Palermo, and generated some interest with a film company (see below!)....I've also had my first ever remix done of one of my songs, Small Request, by my friend Tom, or Puma (www.myspace.com/pumasound) which I thought sounded wicked. So hopefully when I get back to the UK this summer there will be some more stuff like that coming.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Just me myself and I!I play the guitar and the ukelele (although I'm still learning!!) and obviously I sing...I'm thinking of becoming a master at the thumb piano, it has a great sound!
Influences: I suppose I have many influences, I like a lot of folk and blues and singers like Sandy Denny, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell and Joan Baez...I am a huge fan of Bjork and although my music is nothing like hers I listened to her a lot when I was younger and I really admire the things she does with her voice, how versatile she can be. Ben Harper has been quite a big influence in the term of lyrics and arrangements i suppose, as I often think that the most simple tunes can be the most beautiful - I could go on with a list like The Doors (one of my favourite bands!), Led Zeppelin, Beth Orton, Anouk, Pink Martini, Skunk Anansie, Radiohead, Adriana Calcanhoto, Clara Nunes and so on and so forth :)
