Here's a little more about Jill the spoken word performer:
"For me it's all about those highs - those moments when I'm totally connected to my work and the audience is totally connected with me. It's those magic moments when the dividing line between performer and audience blurs - that's what it's all about. You can't reach people the same way through the written word."
Jill Binder was the host of the popular monthly series WordPlay: Poetry/Music Fusion Playtime for over a year, which broke new ground in T.O. and expanded the boundaries of those brave enough to hit up the stage. (The show is now being run by Yehuda Fisher and has been renamed to WordJam.) She has performed her own works in Toronto, Vancouver, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, St. Louis, Halifax, Windsor, Salt Lake City, Ottawa, Austin, and London, England. She has a self-published chapbook, Broken Feathers, released in 2001. She is in the anthologies Voices Under the Guise of Darkness Vol. 3 and Speaking in Strange Tongues Vol. 1, and the webzines Tales of Slacker Bonding and SheBytches. She has featured in Vancouver at the May Day Cabaret, Black Sheep Books, and Thundering Word Heard; in Toronto at Poetica, Storytellers and Vixens, Red Salon, Strange Tongues, The Idler, Art Bar, Cryptic Chatter, Night of Sirens, La Parole, Get Your Strapon, Coffeehouse Showcase, Ignite II: Unite, We Still Got Words, Syntactic Sunday, the Erotica Reading at Now Lounge, and Coffeehouse Cabaret; in Windsor at Angels and Devils; and in London, England at Farrago's.
