Cesco's Music

About Me

Born and raised on the lively twin islands of Trinidad & Tobago, Cesco discovered his passion for music and the guitar at age 13 and has been cultivating his love for more than 20 years. Trained in classical and flamenco guitar, Cesco was a student for more than ten years at the Graham Newling Classical Guitar school. While there, he began incorporating elements of classic rock into his style. Early rock influences include everything from Iron Maiden to Led Zeppelin; Metallica to Rush.
His first taste of band life came at age 16 with the group Warhead (the band's repertoire was primarily heavy metal covers). By 18, he formed the 'alternative' band Brothers Grimm. It was during this time that Cesco discovered his love of songwriting. As one group disbanded (Brothers Grimm called it quits in 1996), another quickly emerged. Big Eyed Grieve was Cesco's last group effort in Trinidad, formed in late 1996. Playing a unique hybrid of progressive-rock, funk, calypso and grunge, the band played on for six years.
After Big Eyed Grieve disbanded in 2003, Cesco embarked on a solo career. In July of that year, he showcased his solo material (featured on his debut EP 'One Man') at 'Acoustic Anti-Pop nite' in Trinidad. The night was a success and a personal triumph. Knowing a change in the musical landscape was within his reach; Cesco decided to take his act on the road.
In September 2003, he migrated to Canada to further his musical pursuits. Two other EPs quickly followed: 2004's 'One Man & His Guitar' and 2005's 'The April Morning Sky Sessions' (featuring the percussive work of Derek Thorne)
To date he has played at several venues across Toronto including Clintons, The Silver Dollar, Hard Rock Cafe, The Reverb, El Mocambo and Healey's.
Cesco also performs and tours with the 6-piece Calypso/Reggae unit Kobo Town www.kobotown.comand his own heavy band Bound www.myspace.com/thebound
After playing for over twenty years, his style has evolved to encompass classical, jazz, funk, calypso, reggae, flamenco, folk and good ole rock 'n roll.
In this new country, Cesco continues to pursue his lifelong dream of music.
