KUNG FU FOR DRUMS

About Me

Anthony has been drumming since the age of 14, with early influences centered in the rock fusion genres, but has been a lover and listener of "jazzy" music and loads of some of the best reggae music from his earlier ages. In the earlier days he looked for everything a youth his age looked for in drums, the fast hard hitting stuff, but as he matured so did his taste in music and style of drumming. He worked long and hard at being a steady hard hitter for the first 6 years of his drumming but was listening to alot of very textured music even during this time. Soon he got into jazz, funk, blues, and latin fusions and many different African beats and patterns. Being a drummer who relies almost completely on feel and emotion he used all the different styles he learned to help him get whatever feel he was trying to express. He has worked with a few different projects, and payed close attention to what everyone had to share along his way. Among these were, Gary Hector (of Jointpop), Joel Beazer (of Shotgun Blues), Marlon Nelson (session guitarist), Jonny Hussain (session guitarist), Gerard Mendonca (session guitarist), Orlando Pyle (session bassist), Peter Noel (session bassist), and a few other free lance musicians. Anthony's style has been described as clean cut, dynamic, solid, tasty and organic. He went on to do a session job with band leader/singer, Vishi, of 3G.O.T. , where he recorded remakes of 2 songs, Painted Black (Rolling Stones), and White Wedding (Billy Idol). Now Anthony is working with 12 The Band, a band of many colours, and also a very busy band. Their styles range from Jazz, hip hop, reggae, kaiso, R&B, hindi, rock and more. He is also doing production with a very formidable artist, Jah Defender, who together will release his full length album before the end of 2008.
