THUNDERING WORD HEARD'S FINAL SHOW!
IMPORTANT MESSAGE:
So, though it makes me sad that TWH is ending on such a low note, this Sunday will be the last in the almost 6 year running open mic series. We've had a fantastic run of this, folks, and for that I am happy and proud. Since our relocation to The Main restaurant, numbers have dropped severely, and it could be any number of things that've brought this into being - the later time start, the "censorship" issue, which I fucking hate (LOL!), or just that we've run our course and it's time to go out semi-gracefully! Whatever the resaon, I wanted to finish the night on my terms, not by termination of the venue's owner, so that's what I'm doing!
If you'd like to come out and say a final farewell to the series which, over the years, offered this city some pretty magnificent shows and a great deal of incredible open mic performers, please come out this Sunday and say goodbye, okay?
I want to thank all of you who made TWH possible by your talent and support over the years – THANKS!!!
I hope that some of you who haven't been able to come out for some time do so - see you there!
See ya round, T.Paul

ABOUT THUNDERING WORD HEARD
For those not familiar with TWH, here is how Margy Snyder from ABOUTPOETRY.COM describes the night:
"Thundering Word Heard is a unique venue for collaboration both spontaneous & rehearsed among poets, musicians & other stage artists. It makes Vancouver one of the cities Id like to visit again & again for poetic inspiration & fun!"
And here is what music reviewer John Crawford of "The WestEnder" has to say about T.W.H.'s importance:
"If Vancouver ever hopes to develop a unique cultural identity, we need more events that support new artists and encourage experimentation, like Thundering Word Heard."
Sheryl McKay, host of CBC Radio's "North by Northwest" states:
" (Thundering Word Heard is) A catalyst for spoken word artists & musicians in Vancouver, if not nationally."
TWH began in January of 2001 at Caf Montmartre on Vancouver's Main Street strip, and soon became recognized internationally as a home-away-from-home for world-class poets, musicians, and performers from around the globe! From its beginnings to now, this weekly spoken word/music fusion open mic series offers an open stage welcome to all performers wishing to find a space in which their voices/musics can be heard. The night is dedicated to presenting all artists professionally via the finest quality of open mic offered anywhere in Canada.
Outside of the VANCOUVER SLAM we play host to more touring Slam poets than any other poetry venue in Canada! See the list and images of past features below to get an indication of who we dig!
TWH is a night where the best combinations of performances occur - from first-time open mic performers, seasoned world-class musicians and poets, and impromptu combinations of music and word and movement are witnessed on a weekly basis.
We offer a PA system, 2 microphones, a solid sound man, and a well-produced night to all who wish to perform. Anyone with any questions about the night, wishing to book a feature performance at TWH, or requiring any special needs for set up are best off contacting me, T.Paul, the host/producer of the series via my personal myspace profile here .
T.W.H.'s MANDATE:
To create a safe, professional, and comfortable performance environment for all performers at the open mic, whether they be new to a stage or old-hand at performing.
To assist all artists in promoting their chosen mediums, whether music, spoken word, stand-up, etc... via the TWH newsletter, this profile, the TWH website, & on stage promotion of coming events within the community.
To present a well-produced & entertaining weekly event for the general public at no charge.
T.W.H. EVENTS OUTSIDE OF THE CAF
TWH & T.Paul have also produced stages for the likes of the VANCOUVER FOLK FEST , THE VANCOUVER INTERNATIONAL STORYTELLING FESTIVAL , NEW MUSIC WEST , the IN THE HOUSE FESTIVAL , and many other wide-reaching events and festivals offering opportunities for musicians and spoken word artists that otherwise may not have been available to them.
