Adelphi listings for the near future are also now available on ThisisUll.com & Hull Vibe!

About Me

I work at the Adelphi in Hull, for which I consider myself quite lucky because unlike most people I know I enjoy my job! Even though I spend a large amount of time on my hands and knees scrubbing floors and stuff. I should probably mention that I DO NOT BOOK BANDS!! If your band would like to play the Adelphi, I'll be happy to pass the appropriate details on, or you could pop on over to www.myspace.com/adelphiclub where they are on screen. I put this page up purely to spread the word about the old place, and get listings direct to you lot out there, not to be hassled by desperate musicians...
The Adelphi club has been open now for a remarkable 21 years, and is now one of the last surviving underground live music venues in the country. Fiercely independent, Paul Jackson, the club's owner, has championed original live music and nurtured fledgling talent, many of whom have gone on to become household names. The club has played host to thousands of bands - local, national and international - including Oasis, Primal Scream, The Housemartins, Pavement, The Fall, Radiohead, Supergrass and recently such up and coming names as The Ordinary Boys, The Kooks, and Bloc Party.
I keep the current week's listings on display here and send out a bulletin by way of a reminder on Monday, but if you would like to receive them every Monday (complete with weblinks and reviews) straight in your inbox, then join the emailing list! Send me an email titled 'subscribe', to [email protected], and it shall be done.
Listings for the month ahead can be found at the official Adelphi website at www.theadelphi.com
And also at the new Adelphi myspace at www.myspace.com/adelphiclub
and on the ThisIsUll website, and Hull Vibe
Flyers with all the latest info can be picked up from the club and a number of sites in and around the town centre: Pave, the Lamp, the library, tourist info, the Ferens gallery, Chinese Laundry, Groovey, Space, Route One, Top Deck records, Beasleys, Offbeat records, Star House, Kathmandu, Experience; and on Beverley Road, Antones guitars & Repercussion. Sorry if I've forgotten anyone, and if you know anywhere else I can leave some then please let me know!

I'd like to meet:

The list would be endless! But we have met so many wonderful and interesting people already at the Adelphi: you can find many of them in the friend space, as well as other things that get sent my way. The rotating top 24 has a mix of upcoming acts, local bands and new friends from all over the place. Check some of 'em out why don't ya?

Music:

Looky here! Low quality video of a very high quality band

Isabel at Sunset will be gracing the stage of the Adelphi on the 23rd March.

And a better quality video from an equally good band, that's Lawrence Wasser and they will be here on the 16th

Movies:

Occasionally, yes! The Adelphi has played host to the odd film screening as part of the Hull International Short Film Festival. Local film makers have also been known to hold the odd premiere here.

Television:

We have a television in the front room of the club, and a pool table. Hours of fun!

Books:

Why, since you mention it there are still a few copies of the Adelphi's 20th anniversary book "One Man and his Bog", celebrating 20 years on the infamous 'toilet tour' and including 2 cd's with 39 tracks by 34 artists including some rare live and demo recordings. Copies can be snapped up at the club for a mere £15..
