I work at the Adelphi in Hull, for which I consider myself quite lucky because unlike most people I know I enjoy my job! Even though I spend a large amount of time on my hands and knees scrubbing floors and stuff. I should probably mention that I DO NOT BOOK BANDS!! I put this page up purely to spread the word about the old place, and get listings direct to you lot out there, not to be hassled by desperate musicians...
The Adelphi club has been open now for a remarkable 21 years, and is now one of the last surviving underground live music venues in the country. Fiercely independent, Paul Jackson, the club's owner, has championed original live music and nurtured fledgling talent, many of whom have gone on to become household names. The club has played host to thousands of bands - local, national and international - including Oasis, Primal Scream, The Housemartins, Pavement, The Fall, Radiohead, Supergrass and recently such up and coming names as The Ordinary Boys, The Kooks, and Bloc Party.
