Formed in Columbus, Ohio in the fall of 2003, faded sympathy combines the post-punk sounds of the early 80's with the early 90's shoegazer swirly wall-of-sound approach to create a dark alternative sound that reflects the bleak outlook of our times.
In fall 2001, Gary, formerly of the goth rock bands gossamer and stare, joined up with Johnny, who was seeking to put together a band of his own.
Over the next 2 years, Gary and Johnny made several attempts to find the perfect fit. In the fall of 2003, after the defection of their latest singer (the last in a long line), they tried once more to get something going.
Gary's old friend Bethaney stepped up to the microphone, and the trio began to write songs at a fast and furious pace. faded sympathy was born.
In the fall of 2005, an EP, "four shadows", was released to praise from fans and reviewers alike. They have since released their eponymous debut record in October 2006, and are working on their follow-up album.
They are also playing select shows, supporting acts such as She Wants Revenge, Attrition, Cesium 137, and More Machine Than Man. Most recently, Faded Sympathy has been named to the list of artists to appear at the annual net goth festival, Convergence, taking place the weekend of August 8th in Tampa Florida, alongside Voltaire, among others...
