In February of 2007, a spanking new band formed in Dayton, Ohio called Fairy Tale Suicide.
Crossing and mixing genres, their sound has an old Siouxsie and the Banshees feel with spooky, unabashed melodies evocative of Depeche Mode and Joan Jett cruising around in the Munster Koach. Influenced by the great bands of horror punk, many of their songs are about monsters, both real and imaginary.
FTS released a clip of a rough basement demo track online once booked for their debut show, and as a result gained immediate support from new fans. The foursome's first time on stage was at the Dark Arts Expo tribute in Dayton, opening for national act, Hungry Lucy . People heavily attended the event from Dayton, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indianapolis, and Louisville, and FTS was prepared with merchandise to sell.
The four-piece was spawned as the long-awaited new project of lead singer, Gia Travesty, and partner in crime/synth player, Danny Dreadful. Travesty made a mark by doing guest vocals on both releases by now defunct EBM band, Dekoy . As former Temple of Misery founders, Travesty & Dreadful wanted to take the music in a new direction and rev it up, infusing it with a sassy shot of morbid chaos. To make this happen, they recruited long time friend, Syd Trommel, multi-talented electro drummer who also doubles as the band's bassist. Curtastrophe was recruited as a guitarist, who is best known in the derby world as head referee for the Gem City Roller Girls. After FTS's debut show, Justin Shock completed the line-up as additional veteran guitarist, who has played in Linus, Koob, Darkness Undying , Systematic Shock , The Jackalopes , and Wulfkult . All five members collaborate on the music written to Travesty's lyrics.
(Newer bio coming soon after the new line-up is established!)
As for the band's name, "Fairy Tale Suicide" is a reference to what happens when people sabotage their own (or others') good fortune when things are going too well. These people thrive on turmoil and everyone has probably seen this happen around them at one time or another. And aside from all of that, Fairy Tale Suicide just has a nice ring to it.
FTS is ready to entertain the masses and looks forward to playing shows around the region. To book Fairy Tale Suicide, please contact Danny Dreadful at:
