About Me

You might know me as Anmorata on LJ.. I'm a semi-retired DJ originally from the Dayton, Ohio area. Currently, I'm living in Jacksonville, North Carolina, with plans to relocate to the greater Cleveland area in August 2007. Mother to a 10 year old daughter, and pseudo-mom to my cats, Apathy and Dante.

I am currently a full time student with a perpetually heavy course load. What that really means is that I am some sort of academic masochist who likes to overload her schedule with too many classes and ends up freaking out by the end of the semester. Fortunately, I'll be graduating with an Associate of Science degree in May 2007, and then I will be finishing up my undergrad studies at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. I'm a Biotechnology major with interests in environmental conservation and medical research. You can see my other interests to the left.

I loathe writing term papers (I'm utterly convinced that I belong behind a microscope, not writing garbage to please an audience of one), and I always put it off until the last minute, which usually results in the inevitable all-nighter. That's when you'll usually find me up and on here, procrastinating the night away.

I'm a tree hugging, gay marriage supporting, pro-choice bleeding heart liberal. Don't hate me for it. I don't hate all conservatives and I'm always open to new ideas and opinions. Intellectual discussions are good. Close-minded bigotry is not.

I'm quiet. I don't speak up nearly as often as I should, or as much as I want to. I have dreams and illusions of grandeur. I have a mad desire to be as cynical and witty as Janeane Garofalo. I spend most of my time listening to music while studying, reading LJ, playing video games, or whatever book has captured my attention for the week.

Also: Yes, I have two high schools listed. For some bizarre reason, my HS is listed twice in Myspace's roster. I don't know why. Oh well.

I am *always* up for meeting new and interesting people. I'm not adverse to meeting new people at all, and I tend to add people of similar location and interest. One can never have too many acquaintences. Friends too, for that matter. Want to say hi? Have a question? Send me a PM.

For the time being, I have turned off Friend Requests from bands (or, at least, they -should- be). I simply don't have time to listen to all of the bands that request to be on my friends list, and I don't particularly enjoy being part of some sort of mass-adding-to-friendslist spree that results in tons of promotional spam. If you are listed on the left in my Music list, then by all means, drop me a line and I will be happy to add you. If you're not, but are of a similar genre, again - drop me a PM and I'll be happy to evaluate whether or not our tastes are mutually exclusive.

Books:

The Sandman series, American Gods, Angels & Demons, Runaway Jury, The Martian Chronicles, Long After Midnight, Imajica, Prozac Nation, and the manga series Tramps Like Us. I'm a fan of Ray Bradbury, Neil Gaiman, and John Grisham. I'm always open to suggestions for good books, so feel free to drop me a PM and let me know what you think I might like.
