After 20 years of existence, Out Out, the musical outlet of Recording Engineer Mark Alan Miller, is still plugging forward. With a career that spans 5 full length albums, 4 record labels, a multitude of compilation appearances, and a "Best of" 2CD Set; 2008 looks to be a year that will put even a few more notches on the belt of this industrial act.
Perhaps best known for their four album run on Metropolis Records; and most notably their debut record Pepperbox Muzzle (which in turn is known for it's ties to TackHead's Skip MacDonald, and the breakout track "Admire the Question") Out Out is most often compared to early nine inch nails, mid-period Ministry, and sometimes Skinny Puppy-- though one could argue the that Out Out stands alone in composition when it comes to their methods of layering track after track with dense, but differing and coherent sound textures. True, this seems to be frontman Mark Miller's signature and it is one that is not easily duplicated or emulated; ensuring that industrial rock fans have something just a bit different to enjoy.
After returning from a brief hiatus and not being one to fear trying something new, Out Out released an instrumental disc of happier, more upbeat tracks in 2006 (which will see a sister disc of downtempo, brooding, soundtrack instrumentals released sometime in 2008). Different sure, but still just as critically acclaimed as their previous four industrial rock efforts and bringing to the forefront (even more so) the aforementioned attention to complex layering and texturing.
These two instrumental efforts will prove to be a necessary step in Out Out's evolution as the band poises itself to make a return to Industrial Rock sometime in the near future! Now running things from their own independent record label Radio Valkyrie Records new fans are encouraged to purchase the 2-disc Anthology 1989-1999 "Hasten the burning... ...with the breath of fools." to familiarize themselves with the vast Out Out catalog as well as to pick up the latest Radio Valkyrie Records release Pepperbox Muzzle: Demobox to see where it all began. Virtual Sound Images, the first of the two instrumental records is also available-- as well as an autographed back catalog of the Metropolis/Axis Records releases.
