New Song! It's a happy one:
Good morning!
!!!Wake up!!!
And put your ears next to the speaker!!!
Yes, these are 4 BRAND SPANKING NEW tasters of the album that has been keeping me prisoner for the last few months. I was sometimes let out on bad behaviour to play gigs. But was often to be found attempting to play a holey old huffingpuffing (though purple and sparkly) accordian, trying to sing a bastardised melody to a cold-ridden trombone player, or whispering and warbling into a microphone, while slowly, without anyone noticing, the album shaped up and up and up.
So if you haven't seen me out on the town without a guitar in my hand for a while, that'll be why. Recording.
The album is going to be ten tracks, and is going to be called Plant Your Heart. The recording was a mammoth undertaking, squeezing in sessions at all hours of the night and day anywhere that was handy, and included star performances from Francesca Simmons, Paul Taylor, Mark Thomas and Andy Fell. Now the tracks have just been mastered at Sterling Sound in New York. I wish it had been an attended session :) The closest I got to New York was munching on a big apple in my bedroom.
The fifth song up here is The Wrong Boy which is the darkly sweet love song from the summery “In The Swimming Pool” EP, my solo debut cd.
The EP ranked 3rd in Londonist’s favourite cds, alongside Alfie, Eels, and Elbow, which was really rather nice of them.
Here is what some more people thought of the EP:
“Film noir atmospheric, scorpion stinging, saccharine-coated Hell Hath No Fury ditties. Splendid stuff.” whisperinandhollerin.com
“Radiant and uplifting . . . a major talent in the waiting” glasswerk.co.uk
“It would be criminal if she didn’t get a wider audience.” Londonist.com
“A chanteuse of the highest degree” www.makenoiseanddance.co.uk
My EP is available on iTunes for £4.74. Or if you want a physical cd, it’s £4 if you click on this Paypal buttonor hunt me down at a gig and hand me some cold hard cash.
Happy listening :)
Love from
