About Me

Good to meet you! Let us introduce ourselves... I'm Dan , I'm the one with the hat, I write and sing a lot of the songs. This here is Kev , he's a rhythm consultant, came to us from the legal profession after he became disillusioned with modern standards of rhetoric. Just over here with the giant shaky handshake, we have Ben who's our Director of Musicology who lectures at the University of Rhodes & Hammond. And neither last nor least we have James who is a double agent working for Oasis and The Bob Marley Foundation. Regularly guest starring with Oystar are Olly on the trombone and Mike on the percussion. Add (Not Quite) Cigarettes and Alcohol to your myspace profile and get two MP3s sent to your email address by clicking here NOW
So what about Oystar? Well, we write cheeky, topical tunes inspired by current affairs - whether it's bank charges ('I fought the Lloyds'), CCTV ('Smile for the CCTV Camera'), or Consumerism ('Anything with that?'). We think music can be a powerful way of getting people together... we call it Synergy. Our particular blend of current affairs and humour comes from a tradition that stretches back to the gleemen and the minstrels of old. More recent musical influences come from Simon & Garfunkel, Monty Python, Tom Lehrer, eminem and mc riz.
Order a CD by emailing [email protected] Our first single 'I fought the Lloyds' charted at number 25 as the highest midweek entry in the week of 14 January '08. It has been played on Radio 1, Radio 2, talksport and loads of local stations throughout the country. The music video we made ourselves was also featured on Channel five news and was used to play out Newsnight by Mr Paxman himself.
We supported Chas & Dave at the Amersham Arms at the beginning of the year and The Lancashire Hotpots at the Purple Turtle in Camden soon after. Oystar will be driving their campervan to many many festivals this summer - check our upcoming gigs for up to date news on that. We appear regularly at Synergy Tuesdays in Camberwell, which is where we regularly make jam and conserve it.

Sounds Like:
"Oystar are a Folk / Comedy English band whose single "I Fought The Lloyds" reached UK Top 40 singles in 2008[2]. The song was a cover of the song I Fought the Law, with the lyrics altered to reflect a dispute over bank charges with LLoyds bank."
