About Me

Kinzli Coffman’s music is open and honest and reflects her diverse background. Having spent her early years in various orphanages in South Korea, she was adopted by an American family at the age of 8 and had to adjust to an unfamiliar Western lifestyle. She wrote her first song, ’Hume-Fogg Alma Mater’, at 16 and later performed it on stage at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee. At this time she was exposed to an array of Southern music such as country, gospel, jazz, folk and bluegrass.
Kinzli first came to the UK in 2001 on holiday, but fell in love with Europe and moved to London. This proved the inspiration for her debut album, Going just to be going, recorded with producer Peter Michaels (BBC, National Geographic) and engineers Ray Staff (Corinne Bailey Rae, The Beautiful South) and Martin Giles (Depeche Mode, Cardigans) The album has been released on her own Indie label, Polkadot Records.
Kinzli’s music embodies such genres as folk, jazz, rock, country, Latin and gypsy, but her beautiful voice and incredible songcraft are uniquely her own.
PRESS COMMENTS:
"This record is one of the best performances I have reviewed. The production is sublime, the band is full of enthusiasm and Kinzli creates a style and a standard for us all to admire."
- Beckie A, THE MAG

"It’s that sort of honesty and emotion that runs through the album and gives you the connection, you also know it’s coming from the heart from a very talented lady who has certainly lived."
- The Beat Surrender: Daily Recordbox

"Brave, adventurous and talented, Kinzli is definitely one to watch."
- Clare O'Brien, Subba Cultcha

"Going Just To Be Going is beguiling - a serene collection of melodious magnetism. Kinzli’s voice is quite beautiful; flutey and soulful, with a hint of Eva Cassidy, exhibiting a maturity beyond her years... This debut oozes retro-charm; the ideal leisure album."
-Alice Stride, Sheffield Steel Newspaper

"Kinzli is a musical magpie picking up the shiny bits everyone loves from an impressive range of genres. So much so, Going Just To Be Going is more like a great compilation tape than an album from one artist."
– The Fly

" 'Going Just To Be Going' by the gifted Kinzli is more than a bit special - Kinzli's whole approach to her craft is bold and adventurous but classy and totally compelling. Although pushing at genre boundaries, the eclectic nature of her work provides a great safety net and opens up whole new musical horizons. Kinzli's an exceptional artist and this is an exceptional album!"
