About Me

Originally from Cork, Maria Byrne has been living in London since early 2006, performing regularly on the London singer-songwriter circuit. Her music combines heartfelt lyrics with soaring melodies. She regularly performs in various venues across London - sometimes with friends, whilst at other times, it's just her, her soft lilting voice and her guitar.
REVIEW 08/09/08 by Greg Harper, www.RAWRIP.com
'Maria Byrne might be underselling herself when describing her voice as being simply whimsical; she in fact hosts one of the most moving and precise voices since Regina Spektor. Her songs are glowing with an amber tenderness, her vivacious vocals skipping the length of ‘It’s Just Me’ and ‘Bare Trees’ with a funky juxtaposition of the happy-go-lucky and the deeply dejected, incorporating dowap, soul and jazz into lighthearted pop nuggets of brilliance. There’s little more to say on this female soulstress without referring you directly to her music; her melodies jumping out of your speakers with every note so beautiful our words really can’t justify them. Fans of disarming pop elegance at its best should check out this phenomenal talent.'
Her debut EP 'Jack' will be released in the Winter '08.
