There Will Never be Another You !!
Cyrille-Aimée was born in Fontainebleau, France. Daughter of a French father and a Dominican mother, she grew up in Django Reinhardt's town, Samois sur Seine. Every summer in this little town takes place the Django Reinhardt Festival where gypsies from all around Europe come with their caravans to honor their gypsy jazz Legend.
She started hanging out with the gypsies as they became her second family and introduced her to their music. Although Cyrille already possessed a natural sense of music and dance, especially for Latin rhythms thanks to her mother, she discovered Jazz for the first time thanks to the gypsies.
She started singing along with their guitars and learning Django's and Stephane Grapelli's solos by heart at the age of 15. She is mostly inspired by Ella Fitzgerald's swing and joy of living.
Cyrille-Aimée is now 23 and has already amassed an impressive list of performance credits including an appearance at the Django Reinhardt festival with the great guitar player Romane. She also performed with many latin musicians such as pianist Jorge Taveras, Percissionist Guarionex Aquino (Tania Maria), and singers like Maridalia Hernandez, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Danny Rivera.
1st prize Winner and Public Prize Winner of the Montreux Jazz Vocal Competition 2007, she is also the official singer in bands like Joe Ferry & the Big Ska Band and trip-hop bands like MasRhon and The Knobs. She was also chosen between 150,000 other candidates to be amongst the 18 participants in the real TV show "Star Academy 4" in France, but decided to refuse and preferred to go study jazz in the US.
Cyrille-Aimée is now studying jazz in the conservatory of SUNY Purchase College with teachers such as Javon Jackson, Ralph Lalama, Dena DeRose and many others, and is also performing regularly in NYC with musicians such as Joel Frahm, Doug Weiss, Spike Wilner and others.
In November she will be recording with great musicians such as David Reinhardt to release a CD in spring next year.
