Holly Clayton

About Me

Music is my aeroplane. My first vocal review EVER: [Sydney Opera Bar 2008]A new singer with an impressive command of jazz, soul and acoustic styles.Holly's voice has a loose, easygoing sense of time and swing, relaxed and on the money at the same time – a tough combination that most singers never achieve. Her vocal range is wide – from husky to sweet - her original songs are cool, and her covers beautifully chosen. Influences include India Arie, Chaka Khan, Norah Jones, Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, Cassandra Wilson, Brand New Heavies, Herbie Hancock, Nina Simone... but there’s more of Holly Clayton in what she does than any of these, for which we are truly thankful, because she's got a unique thing happening that we love. And we're not alone – Holly was the only Australian selected for the finals of the international vocal competition at the 2007 Montreux Jazz Festival.
