Patrycia Shen is a 29-year old singer and pianist.She comes from Poland where she has studied classical piano with one of the greatest pianists in her country,prof.Waldemar Wojtal.She has been playing piano all her life but started to compose her own music only a few years ago. Patrycia also loves to sing. Jazz is her passion and for the last 2 years she's been working on Crete with several musicians, giving concerts and recitals with her Trio.Patti is a self-taught singer. Her close friend and a great jazz pianist Mr.PETE SMITH has helped her discover her talent for singing, and with his support and knowlege about music Patti has started to sing.At first they've decided to record a short demo cd with jazz standards. This was Patti's first recording and she's done it in a home studio in Crete- "It was very funny,I was singing to an open closet with only t-shirts in it.A young boy who was recording my singing told me that t-shirts were there in order get a better sound:)But generally it was great fun; PETE SMITH was born in London and his studies include Blackheath Conservatorie of Music and London School of Jazz. having finished his education in Europe (?) he emigrated to Southern Africa where he continued his studies. He has performed in many different places around the world with both small and big bands;also- as a vocalist. Later on right after Patrycia's first experience with recording she met a great bass player from Denmark, SOREN HANSEN; Soren appears in following jazz and classical music groups either as a bass player or as a cellist all over Greece and Europe.Patti's second pianist is JASPE HANSEN.Jaspe is an experienced and talented pianist who's also moved to Crete and now all of them are playing together. For the last 2 years Patrycia, together with Peete Smith,Soren Hansen and Jaspe Hansen, has appeared on concerts all around Crete, and now she will continue her journey to other places in Europe as a soloist with her jazz program; She's had the honour of being selected one of the 12 semifinalists for the '3rd International Jazz Singers Competition' in Brussels. (For more information: www.themusicvillage.com ) In her free time Patrycja is composing her own piano music inspired by the atmosphere and culture of Crete, and enjoying the Cretan sea and its unique charm.She loves wind-surfing with her partner who has a Water-Sports Centre in Aldemar Hotels(www.crete-watersports.gr)and lately she's started to learn kung fu - wing chung style."I am a very lucky girl. I've meet one of the top teachers.Sifu Evangelos who has his wing-chung school in Crete is a truly Specialist in martial arts. His understanding and knowledge of Combat Wing Chun is deep and complete.
