About Me

Ahh, how do you describe yourself in a couple of paragraphs... Anyway, here goes:I'm an Ayurvedic Practitioner/ Thangka dealer/ English Teacher. I'm juggling all of these at the moment, which is exciting, if somewhat time consuming. A lot of my time and energy these days is going into our new website, Sacred Thangkas and building up my Myspace blogI guess most of my life is a kind of juggling. As a Westerner fascinated by Eastern philosophy and religion, there's sometimes a tension between your roots and your ideals. Part of me loves those Neil Young moments of whistfulness and nostalgia, or crazy nights of Celtic abandon (I am Irish after all...) while another part would like to be living in some monastery or other. Luckily this struggle is usually more humorous than frustrating!Buddhism has been a great discovery for me. A few meditation retreats I did have changed me forever, and I find myself coming into the Now, or at least realising that I'm not there, more and more often. Basically, I'm an optimist by nature, thank god, and it's never too hard to smile at this crazy, exciting, messy and wondrous world.
