Hi! This is the MySpace page of Soren Lyng Hansen. Danish Cellist and Bass player, born 1962 in Copenhagen.My almost permanent residence during the last 25 years has been on the island of Crete, in beautiful Greece.
I have (just for the record) mentioned below some milestones from all those years as a cellist and bass player.
1969 Started learning the cello at age 7 and piano in 1974 at age 12.
Took up the bass at the age of 15, taking lessons from my father, Erik Hansen,
bass player in Denmark in the period of 1955-1995 playing with, among others,
LEE KONITZ, DEXTER GORDON and HARRY SWEETS EDISON. 1978-1981 Royal Danish Conservatory, Denmark.
1980-81 Private studies in London with
CHRIS BUNTING, WILLIAM PLEETH & JAQUELINE DU PRE BARENBOIM.
1981-1983 Royal College of Music, London.
1977 Recording (vinyl) with Dutch singer CHRISTINE ETERMANN.
1983 Finishing studies I went on to work 4 years for the Corfu Municipality
in an effort to help establishing a Symphony Orchestra.
1987 Settling down in Crete.
1991-1995 & 2002-2004 Conductor for the Heraklion Choir & Orchestra.
1993 Established the
“HERAKLION QUARTET†, Special event: A concert in honour of mentor and world famous
cellist/conductor,
MSTISLAV ROSTROPOVITCH. I played Claude Bollings Suite for Cello and Jazz Trio.
1995-1998 Went for 3 years to Denmark to work as a teacher in Skaelskoer High School.
1995 Co-found CNJT, Carl Nielsen Jazz Trio.
1998 CD production with music by Danish classical composer Carl Nielsen,
arranged for the
"Carl Nielsen Jazz Trio" .
The trio does more than 40 concerts in '97-'98. Among other, a concert for the Queen of Denmark in an anniversary celebrating in London.
1998 Re-establish myself in Heraklion, founding the
"Milestones" School of Rhythmic Music. A school approved by European Programs and the Danish Government, teaching music students from different European countries.
2003/2004 Collaboration as cellist with
composer NIKOS KARVELAS and singer ANNA VISSI. 2004 Series of concerts with the
"SOREN HANSEN TRIO" with Swiss-Greek singer
EVA KESSELRING. Concerts for the
ATHENS 2004 OLYMPIC GAMES and for ODYSSAIL 2004. I become a member of the
HERAKLION MUNICIPAL STRING 4-TET .
I founded NUEVO TANGO TRIO in 2007. A trio emphasizing on the music of Astor Piazzolla.
Since the start, the trio has played in more than 120 concerts and events.
A highlight was the 2008 concert with Italian Diva MILVA. A concert attended by more than 1500 people.
