--- ''Cold and calculated, Whizz & Daze drop some serious tech-fueled funk for the dark side of Drum & Bass. ''Sound Barrier'' carries a pulsating, droning bassline with it, sort of an aural representation of the pain you get when you stub your toe or bash your thumb with a hammer, set to crispy drums. While not something that is poised to stand on its own, tracks like this, especially with those epic drops in the middle, just scream for you to drop them in the mix for a sweaty, dense dancefloor. Try it. The flipside is a bit more of a minimal piece, and with a title like ''Moody Winter'', one is transported to a snowblown woods, hunting down your pray while trying to keep yourself (and your surroundings) as quiet as possible. With the melody being played out by the percussion, and the overall atmosphere within this, it would not be out of place to liken this to some of Photek's Modus Operandi flavors, with some new school bass drops thrown over top. Solid 12'' from a pair that seems to be gaining more speed with each release.''---

D&B deejay duo Dobe'n'Daze grew up together (being family-related) developing
a mutual taste in music. Coming from a hiphop/dub/electronics background,
they discovered early jungle/D&B in the mid 90's and fell in love with the
pure energy of D&B. Getting hooked on dj-ing and the D&B vibe, it has been
controlling their lives ever since...
Around 1997 they both moved to Ghent getting in touch with Juice Blenders,One87,
Daviz, Soul, Karlito, Scenter-crew....They got involved with Tecktonic, started
their own radioshow called 'Mystic'(nowadays still runnin' as part of liquid
flavaz @ www.urgent.fm) and became regular guests at SousSol(THE local underground hotspot in Ghent at the time RIP).
The radioshow was supported by a monthly Mystic residency at Club Bardot
inviting the finest belgian D&B dj's.
Meeting a lot of people with the same love for the music, they became key-
figures in the development of the D&B scene in Ghent...
From then on ,things moved pretty fast for D'N'D. Being invited to play at all
mayor Dnb-events in Belgium (Starwarz-regular and XL edition,10DaysOff, Laundry Day, Kozzmozz versus Fuze, House Torhout,
Enter the future,Steam Decadance,Culture Club...and lot's of small
parties all over the country and the occasional gig in The Netherlands). Meanwhile still going strong with their own
partyconcept, Mystic left the home of club Bardot and turned into a
event all over Ghent (Leopolds kazerne, Club 69, Paradox,...and later
on at infamous Charlatan).
Around 2000 they were asked to represent the Fried Chicken Recordstore
(specialised D&B recordstore runned by part of the juice blenders).
The shop became an important meeting place for the up-and-coming talents and the established deejays in the scene adn this was a great way to meet new people. However, it turned out to be all but profitable, so in 2004 it was time to move on.
D'n'D invited Juice Blenders to help organise the future Mystic partys.
Together they lifted the Mystic-concept to a higher level, inviting
prestigeous international artists (Marcus Intalex, Lynx, Fabio, Digital, Break, Danny C, Nu:Tone, Flight, Dj Lee,
Storm, D-Bridge, Mc Fats and many others...). One of the highlights was the
''10 years of Metalheadz'' celebration-party at Vooruit, a co-production with
longtime underground promoter Democrazy.
Dobe'n'Daze love to mix the rough with the smooth, providing that unexpected touch.
Keeping an eye on the musicall side, they go from soulful to dubby to rave.
Always aiming to heat up the dancefloor.
Some years ago they also got into the production-side of things.Building their
own studio and working on productionskills, they found a new love shaping their own sound.
In the studio things are going very well.Daze has teamed up with Dj Whizz from bassculture.org and this has resulted in a series of tunes. They complement each other very well in the studio and the results of these collabs can be heard on this page or Whizz 's page (check friends)..
With a tune OUT NOW on the ''All Sounds Electric'' Album on Critical Recordings, tunes forthcoming on Loxy and Keaton's X-Tinction Agenda, Fokuz, Sonorous Music and more.... things are really shaping up for this production duo! watch this space...
