In my work I try to find a balance between a very old, master style with a surreal and modern style mixed into it. I find that this combination yields a flair to my art—something that is non-typical landscape, nor non-typical abstraction. The desert is imperative to the substance of my art. Primarily in the south-west I can see the aging of the earth as it bares the scars of millions of years of geology, leaving behind, I think, one of the most beautiful places on earth. This landscape leaves me with a wide variety of colors and textures to use in my art. I try to use iconic symbols of the south-west in a modern design. I want the viewer to feel as if they are surrounded by the solitude of the never-ending beauty of the desert landscape and the mystery of the rich past cultures that made this harsh environment home for thousands of years. Like this vast landscape, I will never end my pursuit to share this experience with others.
