About Me

My name is Bryan Jernigan. I am an Arlington, VA graphic artist and writer, adept at mosaic and collage works. I transform common items into works of art. I'm a student of the Washington Color School and of the color field movement advanced by artists including Clyfford Still, Mark Rothko, Morris Louis, Kenneth Noland, Helen Frankenthaler, Leon Berkowitz, Frank Stella and others. I eliminate recognizable imagery from my canvas and try to present abstraction as an end in itself with each work as one unified, cohesive, monolithic image. My latest endeavor uses the simple forms of tissue paper and watercolor artists’ paper from which I transform fragments of color into evocative mosaics that heighten emotions and senses. I use my knowledge of ancient Grecian mosaic artists and my love of the Impressionists and Expressionists combined with colors from the Fauvist movement to create new, modern interpretations with papers. My work is one of a kind and all pieces are for sale. I have exhibited my work at fine arts and crafts shows throughout the East Coast. This slideshow represents just a few of my pieces. You can see more of them in my photos section. Should you be interested in purchasing one of my pieces or if you have specific questions about a piece, please email me at [email protected] edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V4.4 (www.strikefile.com/myspace)
