About Me

The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration. ::: Frida Kahlo ::: me holding Calendar Series works - the daily paintingover 600 created since 2004 the Calendar Series works in 2005

I'd like to meet:

Color has taken possession of me; no longer do I have to chase after it. I know that it has hold of me forever... Color and I are one. I am a painter. ::: Paul Klee :::

The whole world, as we experience it visually, comes to us through the mystic realm of color. ::: Hans Hofmann :::

Music:

I love all kinds of music and song... I have a special love of the guitar, played softly with complex lyric. My Mother sang professionally when I was a child and traveled around the world with her quartet. Because of my early introduction to the stage and music, I love to visit the theater. Pre-Motherhood I frequented concerts of all sorts and wouldn't miss a good musical.

Movies:

On rainy nights in front of my big screen... absolutely! I love a good sci-fi and of course who doesn't enjoy the belly laughs from a great comedy. I tend to avoid movies made in the 90's (mostly American film). I think it was the mind-set of that time that turns me off. If you know one I should see, please suggest it! I was in art school in the 90's and I had ridden my life of movies and television. I just couldn't afford that luxury. So perhaps this is why I still tune out that period in film. Deep down, I wish I had never turned the TV back on...

Television:

I watch it, now. I am embarrassed to say it but I love reality shows. Maybe it the voyeuristic setting or maybe the psychological study, I am not sure... Another favorite is "How it's Made" and shows of this nature. My daughter and I are popcorn eating crazy when these shows are on. Remember watching the "crayon factory" on Seseme Street when we were kids? I could not get enough! We have TIVO which I believe is one on the most brilliant ideas in this new age. I love that control and despise commercials!

Books:

I love little books with poems. I like BIG BOOKS with pictures. ART BOOKS! Magazines

Heroes:

My Grandfather, Frank B. Wilson - he never quit anything. He loved to garden, tinker with heavy machinery, he enjoyed fishing, golf and billiards. He taught me to fish, run powertools, golf and fire a gun (and hit the target). God love him, I miss him dearly. He loved me.
