John Urbancik - Fantasy Dark Fantasy & Horror

About Me

I'm a writer of fantasy, dark fantasy, and horror.
One of my basic philosophies: "It's all fun and games until someone gets eaten alive by a tiger shark."
I'd like to go everywhere and do everything at least once. Some things, I want to do twice. {wicked grin}
My first novel, Sins of Blood and Stone, is about gargoyles, demons, and the Spanish Inquisition, and takes place in modern New York City. I've also contributed half of The Rise and Fall of Babylon (with Brian Keene) and one-third of New Dark Voices (with Michael Oliveri and Gene O'Neill).
Read regular stories on-line for free at Muy Mal .
My second novel, Breath of the Moon, came out in limited edition from Solitude Publications at the very very end of 2006. This is a mythical dark fantasy, set in Central Florida, and follows the woman who will be the next personification of the moon on earth.
The novella, wings of the butterfly, was released by Bad Moon Books in March 2007. This is one of my most vicious stories yet, about a pack of shape shifters.
That was followed by House of Shadow and Ash, also Bad Moon Books, wonderfully illustrated by John Pierro.In the near future, expect the novella Necropolis and anything else that may follow. Details will come, of course. Necropolis answers the question: what happens when you spend a night in a city of the dead?
