The Story It was around 10 years ago, whilst operating one of his famed sport fishing expeditions off the coast of northern Queensland in Australia, that Butch Midway (bass, vocals) met NASCAR driver on holidays Stu Manchu (guitar, vocals).
Recognising a peculiar similarity in not just looks, but also in each of their individual mannerisms, the two shared a strange bond that led to mutual love of playing music. Their partnership developed into spending time in Melbourne playing in punkabilly outfit Fez Perez, but something was slightly unbalanced, and they both new that over time, they would find out exactly what that wasEarly in 2004, the pair decided it was time to find their other brotherhood members, the other livewires who also had a strange sort of brain set up, just like them. Whilst in Senegal, they met a local paparazzi photographer, El Lobo Loco (guitar), who also had an uncanny ability to charm all sorts of animals. They both knew something was going on, when they witnessed him creep up on a tiger in the jungle, and begin to pet him like a house-trained cat.
In Las Vegas, they came across retired boxer turned promoter, Knuckles OHara (drums). He was in the middle of getting a right beating from some burly debt collectors, none of which seemed to faze him. After the flogging he gathered his belongings and waltzed back into the bar for another drink.
And in the darkened ghettos of London, the stumbled onto the Wayward Gun (noise guitar) collecting discarded electrical equipment from back alley dumpsters, for a particularly weird personal science experiment.
Thus, Melbournes own Sons of Lee Marvin was born. The album In July 2004 they locked themselves into a tin shed in the country with the intention of destroying the heathen sounds of retro rock. It was here whilst influenced by whiskey, illegal cockfights and voices in their heads, they found themselves pioneering Post Marvin Gonzo Garage n Roll sound.
By Easter 2005, they were down the bottom of Fatsounds dungeon beneath a building in West Melbourne with the one and only Mr. B. Fats Tockley. It was here that the debut album Desert Kill Theme was pieced together. The live show In their short, yet potentially illustrious career, Sons of Lee Marvin have graced the majority of Melbournes major band venues, and have even managed to wield interstate fans into a false sense of security as well. Playing alongside acts such as The Drones, Mach Pelican, Nation Blue, Double Agents, Devil Rock Four, Jape Squad, Mystaken, and Sin City among many others.Having recently signed a one-album deal with independent label Warthog Records, Desert Kill Theme was released throughout Australia and New Zealand on July 18 2005 through Shock Distribution. The Way of the Lee
