The 1st third a good time; the rest remembering it

About Me

“The kind of release that brings fans of dirty rock ’n’ roll together and adds to that a potential for notoriety.” Anita Stein, Kluster (Australia)
“You, Me and Infamy is a tight full-length debut bursting with unbridled energy, yet it keeps it restrained and focused within the music, to the point where each note bleeds together to form rambling rock 'n' roll perfection.” Liz Worth, Exclaim Magazine (Canada)
“A welcome return to the art of the album.” Johnny Rock, The Dwarf (Australia)
With this kind of reception, Melbourne garage outfit 84 turned heads locally and internationally with the release of their debut LP, You Me and Infamy in early 2007. The album was originally recorded in Detroit Michigan during the band’s first tour of North America. 84 quickly followed up; spruiking the album and impressing audiences at the 2007 North-by-Northeast Music Conference in Toronto. In the wake of the band’s second international tour, Canada’s Exclaim Magazine dubbed the LP “a full-on assault of voluptuous, evocative rock ‘n’ roll full of diffidence and defiance.” It has since been picked up for release in Europe through Undertow Recordings, home to The Drones, Spencer P. Jones and Digger and The Pussycats.
Back home in Australia, You, Me and Infamy was met with a dream run on national independent radio and selected for the top-pick lists of Beat Magazine, PBSFM and Sydney’s The Brag. A long journey from 2002, when the band burst onto the Australian live music scene bedding down a reputation for a “fast and furious” live show. Gracing the stage with furious energy, 84 shared stages with the likes of Dallas Crane, 67 Special, the Kill Devil Hills, and the Legends of Motorsport. Of an early 84 show, music commentator Johnny Rock recalls, “their intensity was felt to the back wall. The album reflects them entirely.”
You, Me and Infamy is available in stores through Warthog Records/Shock Records (Australia) and Undertow Recordings (Europe). The album is available for download from the Itunes Music Store.
84 is now in indefinite hiatus. The band would like to thank their fans, friends and collaborators for their enduring support over the many years. Each member takes with them fixed memories, proud scars and energies renewed.
