About Me

Before they were Duck Duck Chop they were making a racket in my lounge room every Saturday afternoon. I tolerated them for over a year. My bookcase would shudder, and the room would stink of boy sweat. On the occasions when a fuse in Tim's guitar amp blew or Dan's drum stool broke a leg, I quietly rejoiced.
Like all bands tentatively coming together in the inner suburbs, they were easily distracted and far too loud. When I dared enter their realm - with earplugs - they would continue playing as if I were invisible. Duck Duck Chop, as they eventually called themselves, became the inescapable soundtrack to my innumerable weekend hangovers. Less antidote than annoyance, a kinetic propulsion high on sushi, grand plans, and sexual longing.
And for what? The ham in the middle of this poorly recorded triptych predicts a bold evocation of the heartache and confusion to come.
Duck Duck Chop could go either way. For the time being they make their own horizons, not content to just wear sunglasses and walk toward them.
